A Kioti customer service rep, Stephanie Denton, just replied to my inquiry regarding the status of the cracked loader repair. Here is what she said:

1) Kioti has finalized the engineering and repair strategy
2) Kits are being manufactured now
3) Expect that dealers will get an announcement "within the next two months".

She did not have any further details so I gather Kioti will only release those once they announce the repair program officially to the dealers. I got the impression that all communications would be via the dealers too which is certainly appropriate for warranty work. I did not ask about out of warranty FEL repairs but I gather Kioti has been reasonably generous in that regard with other problems.

So, while I'd prefer to have the repair now it does seem that they are at least moving forward at something between tortoise and jack rabbit speed and I guess a further couple of months patience is warranted. It will be nice to get all this behind us.

I cannot help but reiterate once more my disappointment about the level of communication from Kioti corporate on this matter. It really should not take a phone call from a customer to get this information out. My dealer had heard nothing since June when I called him earlier this week which is why I made the direct inquiry to Kioti. Stephanie couldn't have been nicer but it still seems like a "bad case" for a business school class to discuss as an example of how inadequate corporate communication can let a mole hill of a product problem turn into a mini-mountain of customer discontent.

Finally, a plea to keep TBN discourse on this thread relevant and polite. I'm getting tired of having the moderators close these threads.

Glad some progress is being made. Keep us informed as to how it continues. ;)

Well at least it's not a Fix-on-Fail silent recall deal like some of the majors do. Been there done that.......moved on to another brand because of it!

How do you know it's not a "Fix on Fail" program ? I didn't see anything about a re-call in their response.

Looks like we'll have to wait and see.

Mainly because FoFs are not publicised, hence being called "silent recalls". Only way you find out is once the tractor is at the dealer, and the manufacturer pays for the fix.........otherwise you'd not know they'll pay, because they don't let it be common knowledge.

Thanks IslandTractor, I appreciate the information. I have the cracks and although they have not interfered with operation of the loader, I am a little apprehensive when I am moving a heavy load. So I would like to get this worry behind me so I can concentrate on worrying about something else! :p

I also agree about the communication or lack of it. A little more official information would go a long way in consumer confidence.

Two months isn't that long. I too have cracks in my 130 loader but I continue to use it whenever I need it since I was never informed I couln't, I also don't think there has been or will be a catastrophic failure to these loaders due to the cracks. I would rather Kioti take their time to engineer a solution once than to rush a repair only to find out it now affects another part of the tractor. (I can't remember who mentioned it in their post about the potential repair for the loader being to stiff, it must have some flex in it so it doesn't break something else.) I, like many others, only whished Kioti was a little more vocal about the cracks and their repair solution. Just my 2 cents, everybody has ideas and opions of what is acceptable to them and to me 4 to 6 months is acceptable since I still have full use of my loader.
