Default BX24 Optional Features

Hi group. I'm approaching the day of getting a BX24, and I'm wondering what optional features anyone can recommend I either insist on or dismiss as unnecessary. I'm not talking about optional implements and things though, just features specific to the tractor.

For example, I remember reading many people say that you should get the higher-amperage alternator on the BX23. Does the BX24 have this same option, or is the higher-amperage standard now? Are there any other upgrades that are worthwhile on the tractor itself that I should know of anywhere?

Thank you

At this time, the BX23 or BX24 are a just about the slickest TLB package you will find anywhere. There is really not much you might do to make them a lot better... unless you have some pretty specific needs in mind; for example, a larger alternator might be required if you intend to add several powerful worklights. If you would like to use a hydraulic top link or run a hydraulic chute on a rear snowblower, then you might like to add a rear remote valve. Otherwise, either BX is pretty good straight out of the box.

If you are getting a BX24, make sure that it is the latest production model, and that it includes all the kits required to correct limitations found in the early production runs. Several kits have been made available to correct the lacunes in early BX24s - Namely:

Grip Kit (Kubota part number K2581-9557-0) Contains the plastic handles and lever sleeves for the levers and knobs; they go on much tighter than the old ones.

Cluster kit: This is the dash cluster for all the gauges. The first design could accumulate moisture inside, or the hour meter may not work properly. Part number K2581-6250-2

For the original fenders that had a tendency to break...
Fender Kit: Part number K2581-95522

Step stay kit: These are the new brackets that support the floorboard and eliminate floor board flex - BX24 Part number K2592-9554-0

Thanks very much for the feedback. I can see myself adding some lights and a car stereo, but that'd probably be it as far as anything electrical. Thank you very much for the info about that latest kits!
