2020 Kubota BX2380
I am asking my dealer to include an ATI Tach-All system based on the mostly glowing reviews and recommendations for this quick-tach system over the Kubota factory system. One of my friends has a skid steer with a bunch of skid steer attachments and it would be a big benefit if I could use them on my tractor versus having to rent or buy the same kubota attachments.

Most prices I've seen online have been around $700-$800 for the ATI system hardware. My dealer just came back with a price of $1500 which seems to be excessive and I can't figure out why. This price includes the ATI hardware for the loader, the blank plate to weld onto my existing bucket, the welding labor and the ATI hardware installation labor. I was expecting it would be more like $1000.

I think there is still value for me to spend $1500 on it, I just don't want to spend more then I should... should I check around with other dealers for pricing or should I just stick with my local dealer whom I bought the tractor from and will be doing all the servicing?

Thanks,
Z

I don't have my quote figures in front of me, but i got a quote on at skidsteer QA also. I believe my quote was for a woods, not an ATI...... but shooting from the hip, it was approximately 600 for the QA and another 600 for a Woods HD skidsteer bucket with a bolt-on cutting edge. I could forfeit the stock standard duty bucket for a credit of approximately $440......making a difference of around $800 for getting the tractor with the Quick Attach / HD bucket. Your quote seems a bit high compared to the one i was given......but not exactly apples to apples seeing as your dealer was going to modify your stock bucket.

The ATI skid steer type QA is nice and light, which is a big benefit with the LA402.

However, those skid steer attachments you hope to borrow are going to tax the capacity of the LA402 significantly. The problem with the LA 402 & 403 with a skid steer QA is that you need to carefully purchase skid steer attachments that are lighter weight than standard skid steer attachments. They're out there, but they cost more than the heavier, cheaper stuff. So don't be surprised to be dissapointed with what you can lift while using your buddy's skid steer attachments.

As for the quoted price, $1500 seems a bit excessive. I agree that you should try to get an ATI QA bucket and get credit for the standard Kubota bucket and avoid the extra welding.

Here is what I'd like to use, maybe you can help convince me I don't need it at all if it's not gonna work well w/ the la402; grapple bucket, trencher, post hole digger and possibly a grading bucket.

It's not that I couldn't do some of this w/ the 3pt but I don't own any 3pt attachments and all these skid steer attachments would cost me is some gas to go pick them up and drop them off.

I am buying it used from a dealer so it comes with a used bucket which I wasn't let to believe was optional. The sales guy advised that I keep the Kubota bucket because it was a good bucket, with a reversible cutting edge, worth welding the blanks onto. I will try and see if they will keep the bucket in exchange for a discount, then go buy an ATI bucket.

BTW - I was also told it would take an extra 2 weeks to deliver the tractor because of this request.

Yeah...... getting the credit for deleting the Kubota bucket was only when buying new.

Z,

Chances are, some of those implements are pretty heavy, as your buddy doesn't have to worry about weight, and probably wants the heaviest stuff he can get for durability.

I understand you want to save $$, but unfortunately, until you move up to the Grand L's (even the L3400 FEL would be borderline with some true skid steer attachments), you're going to run into problems with that heavy stuff on the little LA402.

A grapple setup for the LA 402/403 is going to be a lot lighter duty than a standard skid steer grapple. I'd bet that your buddy's grapple is going to eat up at least 50% of your FEL capacity, if not a little more. If you're moving brush, you may be ok, but big logs or rocks will present some problems. I bet the trencher is pretty darned heavy, too. You may be able to lift the PHD, but the B7800 hyd flow may not be able to run it at all, and you'll have to make an adapter to fit the larger hyd coupler that the skid steer uses - may run into the same hyd issues with the trencher? The grading bucket may be ok if you don't load it up too much.

I opted for the Kubota pin-type QA for all those reasons. ATI also has a pin-type QA. It may cost me a little bit more when I'm buying attachments, but I'll be able to get stuff that is better suited to the LA403. And many of the implement manufacturers are now offering both a skid steer QA version and a pin-on version specific to many different loaders, so you just order the standard pin-on version, and use your pin-type QA to make hooking up easier.

Or, you go with the skid steer QA, but have to shop carefully for the very lightest weight implements you can find. They're out there, but you may give up some of the cost savings over the bigger, heavier skid steer attachments because those are manufactured in much larger volumes.

I have the ATI tach-all skid steer type q/a on my LA403 B3030. The other poster is correct in terms of weight limits. Standard skid steer attachments tend to be very heavy. You generally need to order ones made specifically for a compact tractor.

Your pricing is very high. I paid just shy of $1000 total installed when I purchased my B3030 back on October 06 and that included the modification of the stock bucket and welding on bucket hooks. I know steel prices have gone up some since then but $1500 seems very excessive.

I am not sure I agree on the skid steer attachment pricing though. Since the true skid steer type attachments tend to be very heavy duty (more steel in them) they tend to be more money than the light weight ones our tractor would use. For example you can pick up a 48 inch Millonzi grapple for around $1000 delivered. Most true skid steer type grapples, even from eBay, are easily double that price. More manufacturers cater now to the compact tractor market and there are a lot of light weight options. One thing the other poster is correct on, the true skid steer attachments are much more plentifull so they are easier to rent, borrow or buy used.

I have not found any weight penalty with my setup. I just took down three large pine trees and I have been moving the green logs the last couple of days. The logs are over 2' in diameter, wet with sap and I cut them in approximatly 6' to 8' sections. My B3030 with LA403 and a WR Long RBG2 48' grapple easily lifted them. I also have the 60" Kubota standard bucket that was dealer modified to q/a and I have lifted heaping buckets of gravel, wet topsoil, etc. Basically I have not found anything that I can get into the bucket or grapple that the tractor would not lift.

Sometimes it is not cost effective to do a retrofit. I got the ATI system & an ATI skid steer compatible bucket when I bought my B3030 new + some light duty (2,000# rating) bradco forks. I got a credit for deleting the Kubota Bucket.

The Kubota pin system may be the way to go & will get you pallet forks at least - which are very handy & the option to for a custom (lighter) grapple built to fit. The pin system will work with the existing bucket w/o modifying it.

You'll likely spend more $$$ plumbing a PTO pump & hoses to power the PHD than you would to buy a three point version.

Perhaps you should consider a skid steer or larger tractor if you want/need the extra capacity.

bandit67> you raise some good concerns w/ hydro power. I know the B7800 puts out around 9.5 gpm. I have the dual rear hydro outlets installed which I think I should be able to use to make all the hydro connections which are needed. What is this about an adapter?

amigauser> thats a pretty glowing review IMO. Thanks!

I was told their wasn't a grapple bucket available for the LA402 unless you went w/ a skid steer QA... now I'm not sure if thats true or not. Do I have other options besides skid q/A to get a grapple bucket? I didn't think the Kubota Q/A was any help because I don't need the forks or snowblower, which I was told were my only options.

I'm hoping the $1500 was just an estimate, I haven't seen it written up yet. So far I am leaning towards opting for it but hopefully get a few hundred off the price.
