I purchased the BH 296 a while back. yes, red. the main difference is that the 296 has a smooth shroud over the top (thereby collecting less debris) compared to the ribbed surface of the 286. Nice machine. I would recommend bitting the bullet and getting the chains on the rear (& ft?) for safety purposes. Think all tolled (tax, etc) I gave around $2100. Think it's a 45 hp rated box. got the 6' model. knives removed w/conventional (R/H) thread. Around 1200 lib w/chains. good luck bb

My JD LX-6 has chains front and rear and I really like them. They are very durable and I almost never see anything get flung. Another thing I recommend is the laminated tail wheel. Very durable.

Well I was back at the dealer today...was looking over the Squeeler line and the Rhino.....both within a 100 buck of each other...I think I am leaning towards the Rhino...couple reasons...both have 65 hp gear box...the Rhino has skid plates all the way to the back...and the Rhino seemed beefer around the 3 point connection..it has a class 1 and 2 connection vs the Squeeler only has a class 1...might nit mean much....the the connection point seemed a bit better. IT does not have the smooth deck....but I don't think thats much of a big deal to clean off.

Well it's been a long hard decision...but but L400 is in my future...next Monday I get to pick it up....
Here is the low down...6 foot Rhino cutter....6 foot med duty box....loader..4 wheel drive...gear drive....topper....going to add both front and rear lights...work light...tooth bar...super slime the tires...R4's...and three bucket hooks welded on Going to hold off on the $800.00 remotes until I have a use...might get a log splitter in near future..but will need to wait... Sure hope this baby is trouble free... One question..the dealer is offering a 10% one time off on parts...anything worth getting while I am there? filters....oil? etc... thanks again for all the help ![]() |
