B3030/L3400

Well I finally got to my local Bota dealer on Saturday, and took a B3030HSD for
a test ride, no L3400HST available, maybe next time.

We are leaning towards a B3030 since it has some features the wife & I like, or may need in the future, MidPTO, and the telescoping stablizers. There was some talk awhile back about the bad seats, but the 3030 I rode seemed comfortable. I thought the accelatrator pedal was a little awkward with the foreward, and reverse on the same pedal, anyone here have problems with that? Maybe it's just my big feet

Dealer mentioned something about a quick attach bucket to remove quickly, and put on forks, anyone here reccomend a need for this? Bobcat attachments??

We're still on the fence about the size of the tractor, and are wondering if
down the rode the B3030 will be to small, and wish we had gotten the L3400, but the B3030 seems to be all the machine we need right now.

what sort of terrain? If hills, go for the L. If tight spaces and flat, go for the b3030.

I bought the b3030. I love it, its a great tractor. I should have bought an L. Of course, I wouldn't have an excuse to buy an L4740 now..

7 Acres of that 5 acres fields, some hills, some wetland, water gulleys. 1 acre lawn. 1 acre woods. Want to cut the fields, clean up the water gulleys, clean up the woods.

I have the B7800 and if I had 7 acres as described I feel I would spring for the L3400. The B3030 is an excellent tractor and will mow your acre nicely whether you have the Mid Mount Mower, MMM, or a 3 pt finish mower. Did you look at the Grand L Series of tractor? I would before you commit to anything.

For what you describe,get the L. Preferably a grand L xx40 if you can afford it. And load the tires.

Skip the mid mount mower. I have one. I wish I had a 3 point finish mower instead. Total PITA to get on and off, no real benefits over 3pt finish I can see.

The telescoping 3ph arms are better than sliced bread. Almost essential. Makes 3pt stuff SO much easier.

I'm 6'5, size 13 shoe, and the b3030 pedal is fine btw - probably just accustomization to the treadle needed.

Ok..Thanks for the info, I started looking at the Grand L40 series, but was thinking that these tractors might be a bit too heavy for my property, and I'd sink into the wet areas, but my neighbor has a JD 4720 and his property is similar, and he hasn't sunk in yet

I like the telescoping 3ph arms, and the option to have a MidPTO since I would like to go with a front mounted sno blower eventually. Too bad these two good options aren't available for the L series, but are available for the grand Ls. More decisions before I purchase, but thanks all for your input.

all tractors will pretty much sink equally... If that really matters you should be looking at a tread machine, which is another world.

mid pto... I'm not going to get it. You can get a much cheaper snowblower on the rear pto, even a front blower (erskine) And I don't know about the grand Ls, but the mid pto on the b3030 is kind of a pain to work with

Depends how much the mid pto snowblower kit will cost. Something else that would be worth a search or its own post, as I don't have any experience with them - we simply don't get the snow.

Depends how much the mid pto snowblower kit will cost. Something else that would be worth a search or its own post, as I don't have any experience with them - we simply don't get the snow.

For some reason I thought the midpto was a standard feature on the 3030?
I think a front mounted snoblower would be alot easier than a rear mounted for my 600 foot driveway, but then again we probably won't get has much snow has we had this year for along time

I've had a 60" MMM since 96 and I plan on getting a 72" with a B3030. Our new place has some trees and IMHO a bellymower will navigate much better than something pulled behind the tractor. I have 90 acres and will be cutting approx 5 acres. I didn't think about the L2800 or L3400 because they do not have the mid PTO. I considered the Grand L's but they are too big for what I need and with diesel at it's current cost, the B3030 should be just right for me.

Hi Bigtwin...
I'm currently on the fence with deciding between a B3030,L3400,L3240
I do like the Midpto option, and the telescoping stablizer options that are avaialble on the B3030, and the Grand Ls only. Is a Grand too big for my situation that's what I need to decide.
