pillar, i agree with bb, the hydraulic shuttle is more important than the 12 speed tranny. i think the 12 speed will come in handy mowing and bailing hay. the 8 speed i had before was sometimes a little too fast or a little too slow. not that big of a problem though. now i have more options. the tires are18.4x28, and yes they are cast disc. my old tractor had wheel weights, and they worked fine also. big bubba, can't wait to see some pics of you're new rig. i've never seen a 7040 in action, but i'm sure that once you try you're 8540 out, you'll think that you've got three times the tractor. are you guy's getting extra remotes or any other goodies?

Bill: rig came w/extra set of remotes, don't really need (now). BTW 8540 owners and above re: hyd brake maintenance. On p 57-58 of your owners manual note items 10, 33-36, 38 they say every 2 yrs (overkill but worth knowing how to do) and "consult your K dealer. Knowing how to clean the master cyl filter, adj/ or replace the parking cable, m cyl kit, or bleed system is worth copying out of the shop manual. I won't haul it for that. Along with replacing items like hoses & lines, they probably list it as scheduled maintenance for liability purposes and is overkill. but you should know how to service and it's omitted in the o manual. just to pass on. (the service dept knew nothing about this when I brought it to their attention) bb
