You could try a camper store also. The same type of hardware is used on camper awnings to tighten up the sliding arms once it is setup. They come in all sorts of threads and sizes.

Yup, That's what I ended up doing. No fine thread knobs at McMaster Carr. Carquest had the bolts locally.

Hey guys, i know this is an older thread but lets re-open in the hopes someone has found a place to buy these replacement knobs (clamp rail cover ) for a fair price.

I am going to buy blank knobs, drill/tap and green locktite all thread to make my own knob. I agree it will be nice to have the knob vs just a bolt.
