The new hitch will lift higher, but not open wider. There are still some very large Cat. 1 implements on which the distance between the pins is simply too wide for them to fit in the BX 3ph. This has been remedied in two primary ways: 1.) Reverse the pins so that they face inward rather than outward. 2.) Use Pat's easy on extenders, or a comparable device.
This is not really an issue in most cases, however, as the Cat. 1 implements that are too big to fit in the BX 3ph also tend simply to be too big to be used on a BX anyway.
Those are just what I spoke about the aftermarket CAT 1-2 hitches!!!!!
Many of the after market manufactuers looking to get a bigger bang for the buck will have cat 2width on the hitch with cat 1 pins that can go several tractor sizes with just a set of bushings to get it to cat 2 with only one machine better fitting inventory costs for dealers. We jhave been reversing the hitch pins for years on many different hitch sizes to ease hook-ups!
