2010 Kubota M5040HD
In my search for an M5040, I've had a few dealers tell me that Kubota is getting rid of the M5040 (one even said he couldn't order it anymore), and replacing it with the M5140.

Does anyone know anything about this?

I went by the Kubota dealer today looking at m7040's and saw the m5140 for the 1st time. I got home and did a search on it. Haven't really come up with much... My question is whether they are going to be replacing all the m40 series?.. If so, I'll hold off and wait for a m7140... I'll be placing a call to the dealer when they reopen after the new year break. In the mean time if anyone has any additional info about this, a reply would be greatly appreciated.

For the M5140, they've eliminated the draft control and gone to a smaller cubic inch engine (still 50hp, though). It's true that dealers can no longer get the M5040, and it's been that way for several months.

So no talk of any changes to the other m's for 2011?...
Wonder why there isn't a 5140 listed on the Kubota site yet?

The only other change to the M lineup is the option of a hydraulic shuttle on the M7040SU.

If you are looking to buy a new Mxx40, you might want to see if it has the new emission controls as there is supposed to be more maintenance involved.

The story I got in mid December was that the M5140 will share the same engine as the MX5100.
Horsepower is about the same but I was told the 149ci 5140 engine has less torque than the 186ci 5040 engine.
I was also told I could buy the 5140 about $300 cheaper than the M5040.

My dealer did not have a 5040 in stock, but had no trouble finding one for a dealer transfer. I was told there were quite a few still in the inventory around here. Might be different in California.

Interesting, the 5140 seems to be a slight down grade from the 5040?... I figured it would have been the other way around.
