I had a chance to have a good look at a new Kubota L3800 today, sitting right next to an L3400 on the dealer's lot for comparison.
As far as I can see externally, there's very little difference other than a different dash layout, and the bodywork of course.
The L3800 had an LA463 loader mounted, so they're interchangeable. No idea why it didn't have the LA524 loader, they may be in short supply.
I did notice that both tie rods on the L3800 have an adjustment, so you can actually center the wheel as well as setting the toe-in. The L3400 only has one adjuster.
The 3ph gear looks to be identical, same castings, etc., as does the valve assembly. No telling what changes if any have been made internally, but it looks the same on the outside.
I didn't see much difference in the seat, same shape as the old one I have.
Not sure if I like the center-of-dash location for the tach, I think the steering column might interfere with clear view of it, I didn't sit on the tractor since it was raining at the time.
The grille guard is different too, uses flat bar instead of round pipe for the crosspieces, may give slightly better light past the guard at night.
Some of the control levers are different shapes, either to fall better under the operator's hands, or to accommodate the new bodywork.
Nice looking tractor, I will say that. The sloping more rounded hood gives it a New Hollandish appearance.
Do any of the new L3800 owners with an LA524 loader have the pressure specs from the manual for the new loader? I'm curious to see if Kubota has increased the pressure rating to get the extra lift capacity over the old loader.
