After driving my old Ford 1700 for 28 years I decided its time to buy another tractor for my next 28 years.

After looking and looking I have decided on the Kubota 3240 HST. I priced it at 5 or 6 dealers and found the 3240 HST-3 for $21,400 with the 517 loader. I was about to pull the trigger and called a Case/Kubota dealer about a Case tractor. The Case was to much money but he did give me a price on the 3240 HST of $20,500. While making sure it was apples to apples I found out it was a -1 instead of -3.

Does anyone know the differences in the 3240 HST-1 and 3240 HST-3 ? Any help would be appreciated.

-3. pulll button pto, new decals, better rubber on FEL loader stick, something different about the seat.

I like the lever operated pto lever on the -1.

Sure you do not want an upgrade on hp? I went from a 1950 8N to an L3940.

Swivel seat and pull knob for pto. The rest of the tractor is the same. I too would suggest an upgrade in hp and also upgrade to the 724 loader. Much more lifting capacity.

The swivel seat isn't a big deal to me. I like the PTO switch. You turn it to engage it and just tap it to turn it off. The knob is little hard to turn on in the winter with thick gloves, it would be better if the knob was triangle shaped.

The -1 is probably a 2008. It shouldn't be a problem though. I would really think about the larger loader if you plan on using the loader somewhat often.

The -1 v -3 wouldn't concern me as I prefer the PTO lever over push button, but agree with other that I would want a bit more HP. I went to buy a 32-35 HP and bought a 50 HP and am sure glad I did.

Of course as always YMMV, or whatever the latest catch phrase happens to be.

Beside the swivel seat (which I love - that little bit of swivel is a lot easier on my arthritic neck) and the button PTO, isn't there also a minor engine change to make them Tier 4 interim capable? The old literature I have when the 40 series came out doesn't talk about meeting Tier 4 but the literature I got when I finally pulled the trigger on my L5740 says it meets Tier 4 interim. Not a big deal since meeting Tier 4 interim on engines less than 75 HP seems to be only a minor change, if any.

I am pretty sure my 2009 -1 has a tier 4i engine. Philip.

dash -1's are 2+ years old at this point, if someone still has one in inventory I'd make sure you see it and confirm how badly its weathered.

Here's what Schwermetall posted last year when discussing the differences. He got a good explanation directly from Kubota. The only thing Kubota missed was the new decals that PHILIP8N pointed out...

"Response from Kubota regarding the difference of the -1,-2 and -3 models. BTW they responded pretty quick, another sign of a great company.
