I think I've got it narrowed down to either the Kubota L3130 or the JD 4130. Normally, the L3010 is compared to that JD model, but the L3130 replaces it. Each has the heavy duty bucket (JD430 or LA723), quick hitch, HST, R4 tires, rear weights.

JD has some rebates, which puts the price at $19,000 at local dealer, while the L3130 quote is $18,500.

Any insight on how these actually compare? Just on the basis of weight, I'd say the old L3010 was about the same size machine as the 4130, about 2600 pounds each. However, the new L3130 is 3260 pounds, which seems to imply that it is a much bigger machine now, yet still cheaper. The JD 4310 was the TBN 2000 Tractor of the Year though...and clearly a nice piece of hardware.

Any comments appreciated. Guess I should post to the JD group as well...

Do you mean the JD 4310? I drove each of those tractors yesterday and both are nice but, the Kubota is larger and has the smoothest Hydro ever. The other obvious points were that the Deere lacks the new features of the 3pt hitches found on many tractors today (telescopic links, etc.). The Deere was a little louder (both engine and trans) and the Kub has some other standard features - armrests, computerized information system on dash. Lift capacities are higher on the Kubota and the loader seemed a bit more capable in terms of speed, smoothness of control, and angles but, I didn't have them side by side to compare at the same time.

Yes, 4310, and I proofread that 3 times! Thanks for the info.

Just compared almost same machines JD 4410 vs L3430 - side by side, with hydro, loaders etc. - both are very nice. If you need a more narrow machine for tight areas - JD would be better choice -- 60 in. bucket etc, otherwise, I preferred the L3430 features for $1500 less and wider stance, larger bucket, more weight lift at 3ph and loader etc. To me, L 3430 runs more quietly with wonderful Hydro. trans. Assuming both are touble free, went Kubota.

Ordered with hydro, 4n1 bucket, r4's, tooth bar.

Hope this helps.

I compared the same tractors you are looking at now. The JD dealer couldn't even come close on the price. I picked up a L3130, LA513 loader, 4-way valve, quick-attach bucket, 6' Woods box blade and rear work light. The LA723 loader would have been $450 more. The loader on the Deere more closely compares to the 513 than the 723. You have to pay extra on the Deere to get the same size ag tires that are standard on a Kubota. Extendable draft liks will also all a couple hundred dollars to the Deere. If the price would have been fairly close, I would have had a much more difficult time deciding. Also, if you are going to finance, Kubota has the better deal. You would need to add the extra interest cost to the price of the JD.

Just to give you an estimate, here's what I was quoted for the JD:

4310, eHydro, iMatch, Rear work light, warning light brush guard kit, speed match, automotive style cruise control, forward lighting-$15850
430 Loader with quick-attach and 61" bucket-$3125

Hope this helps with your shopping!

Wow Thomasre, that sounds great and is probably the best all around tractor for me, too. I just can't get a good deal on one anywhere near our area.

Can I ask what you paid for that package?

I can get the JD for less than a comparably powered Kubota in this area - lots of JD dealers around.

TractorTruck, L 3430 hst, r4's filled, 723 loader w/ quick attach, Long 4n1 72" bucket with electronic valve to on joy stick, bolt-on tooth bar, two extra lights and chain hooks. I think that's all, just under $20,500. (the 4n1 option was 1695 of total).
