Tractor
Kubota L 3710, M7040 Massey Ferguson 2650 hd
I have been reading TBY for a long time, never left a post before but I'm about to do something crazy, want other opinions. After deciding to upgrade from a L3710 and reading countless posts, the the best tractor for my needs seems to be the M7040. The dealer has made a price of 43,000 for a new tractor with ultra cab, hydraulic shuttle trans, 2 rear remotes and loader. Is this a good price for this tractor?????? I am keeping my 3710, cash deal...

Build one exactly like you are looking at and then subtract 10%. That should put you in the ballpark. Negotiations can start at a 15% deduction from the website quote and go from there.

Try several dealers within 100 miles if they are available. Just email them with an offer and see what comes up.

Purchased a new m5140 this week so maybe it will help some. Purchased a 2012 m5140hdc cab 4wd hydraulic shuttle loader and grill guard. According to the kubota website, list price was $43,325 as equipped. I paid $33,200 on a cash deal which was 23.4% off of the list price. Had I financed the machine, it would have been $2000 higher without the cash discount. Shopped for a few weeks and got quotes from several different dealers. I was amazed at the difference in prices from dealer to dealer. I had quotes for $4800 more than what I paid.

It works out to 10% of what the Kubota web site listed with the options, so I guess its a good deal. He is at least local and I have dealt with them on other equipment. But it does pay to look around. I think the M5140 has basically the same frame as the M7040 but just a different engine. The dealer did say they are replacing the 7040 with a 7060, but will cost more, of course..

You should beat that some, got almost 25% off of m7040 in june 2012. Shop around, they are all different.
