Looking at BX25D at the dealer yesterday and noticed a bad 12-18" of weld on the backhoe. My flip phone pics will not do it justice and if it had a good coat of paint on it it wouldn't be noticed, weld located to the bottom side of the large Kubota decal. My past job experience tells me most likely robotic or some type of automated welding that did not fuse well to the vertical curved side plate, most all the bead is on the bottom curved plate. I also noticed a couple of other places that the paint was thin.

Has anyone else noticed any other quality issues on these units, fit and finish or otherwise?

Hard to tell from the pictures but the weld, while far from perfect, will probably hold up fine.I know the welds on my previous BH90 backhoe were quite bad but they never broke. Some were a lot worse than the one in the photo.Makes you wonder about the quality control at Kubota,at least the welding part.

Yup.
Matches my experience with Kubota welds too. Really sloppy. Havent broken any, but theyre ugly.

My experience is that the stuff made in Japan, like the tractors themselves, have excellent welds and overall build quality. The loaders, backhoes, mower decks and other attachments made in the USA are unfortunately not up to the same standards.

Yeah that looks awful. I think it missed the base metal completely!

I agree... Stuff made in Japan... Excellent. Stuff made down south in USA... Not so hot sometimes! Read about the new RTV suspension issues for example.

Yup. Its Kubota USA that has the QA problems.

Not just weld problems, paint too. Some pics of my tractor when new. I got more but dont want to derail the thread

Just checked my brand new BX25D today and I can't see any problems or bad welds in the areas you took pics of...of course, as you said, your pics are not too clear so I'm not really sure I was looking in the right spot.

I went to the dealer... again window shopping and I noticed that he was spraying a tractor with gray spray paint prior to delivery. I was thinking maybe the rust is beginning to take its toll being outside.

I also saw gray paint that was light on this same unit very similar to scooby's pic above that will quickly end up in rust as shown. Interesting you saw the dealer touch up painting.

I can understand some things need a little tweaking before delivery, and if this bad weld had a thicker coat of paint on it I would not have noticed it.

On another note, looked at a different BX25D and no BH weld issues on this one.

Someone posted a few years ago about a loader that had poor quality welds. He wanted them to take it back and give him a new one. A lot of people just said he was being picky and live with it. I agree the weld in your photo looks bad. I don't know how to describe it other than they missed the joint and the weld isn't doing anything. My BX has good to fair welds on it.
