Hi. Welcome.

A tractor with that few hours are barely broke in. If the trans/hydraulic filter is gray that indicates it did not get its 50hr service. Look at the fluids and see if clean or darkening. Any signs of abuse like bent FEL arms or boom on backhoe.
Leaks would be uncommon with that few hours. If clean might not hurt to ask the bottom price he/she will take.

I bought my 03 BX2200 used with 1187hrs on it with FEL, 60" MMM, rear blade and 60" tiller for $7,300.
Used machines especially Kubota's are getting top prices now.

Several comments

The plastic Hydro Fan underneath is susceptible to damage and always verify it is in place and not missing blades.

Air Filter Bracket is notorious for cracking... not a big deal... just something to be aware.

Under belly is somewhat exposed and most of us have added skid plates... especially if going into the woods.

The BX23 is really an amazingly rugged and capable TLB... done a lot of work with mine and have 320 hours.

New I paid $14,900 out the door without mower...

The price does seem to be higher than I would expect...

thanks for the replies, im going taking a 3 hr drive tomorrow to take a look at it. ill keep an eye out for fluids and scope out the underbelly of the unit. one thing im kind of confused on is why the rear tires appear to be turf tires and the fronts are industrial, minor but just a question. Hopefully everything checks out ok and i can talk him down a bit and have my first tractor.:)

During the last eleven years was the tractor stored inside or outside? $2,000/$3,000 difference in what you should pay.

Eleven years outside will have deteriorated wiring insulation, hydraulic lines, tires, instruments and paint.

Industry surveys indicate small residential tractors operate 80 hours per year.

Tractor prices are most negotiable when there is snow on the ground.

Turf and Industrial might be possible to match the rolling circumference of the factory tires but you should research the original size and circumference of both to make sure they are a perfect match otherwise the transmission could have sustained damage from the use of two different sized tires.
I suspect that the R4 were put on to handle a heavier load on the front but If the sizes don't match the original R4 or Turf exactly (within 5% is allowable) then I would shy away from that tractor. I think the price is very high for a 11 year old tractor. I think he is asking original purchase price of the tractor.

tractor was always stored indoors, and from speaking with the man on the phone he seemed pretty firm on the price. Hopefully cash will talk and i can get him down a bit. But ive been looking for this tractor for quite sometime and these seem hard to come by here in the ohio area

Consider if NEW BX25, with a warranty, evolved improvements and THAT NEW CAR SMELL, might be net cheaper in total costs than this rather high priced eleven year old BX23.

Inside storage is GOOD.

The original BX23 front tires were discontinued from Kubota...

I had to go with BX24 tires and rims... the 24 uses a bigger rim and a lower profile tire so the circumference is the same...

I actually ended up buying a set of BX24 front and rears on new rims through whole goods for less then I could buy just the tires...

If I had to choose... the BX23 would be the last to go... I just like it that much... the BX24 had plastic floor and fenders that did not work out so well... the BX25D seems to have all the bugs worked out...

Dad always said cash is king...

Good luck.
