Hi all,
New member here. I have lurked for a while on and off getting some info on a possible purchase. I had been looking at sub compacts but I suddenly have the opportunity for something a little bigger, just not sure if I should.
My next door neighbor has a B3300SU with a backhoe and an auger. It seems to be in pretty good mechanical shape but while they were clearing some of the woods on their property the hood/dash area received some damage from some limbs. They have used the tractor on my property in the past to do a few projects. I believe I can buy this package for $6500. Any opinions on this setup? Anything about them that I may not be aware of?

Hi. Welcome. Glad you're not lurking anymore.

If mechanically sound should be a good deal. Hood damage can be repaired/replaced or lived with.
How many hours on it?

Jump on it.

Only reason I don't have a B3300SU is I couldn't afford one. The backhoe itself costs more than that, new.

I had a B3300SU. I put 400 engine hours on it, then sold it for nearly-same-size but much heavier Kubota L3560.

The BIG ISSUE for me is B3300SU lateral stability. The B3300SU is the only 'B' with big wheels so it is the most laterally 'tippy' of all the "B"s. So be EXTRA prudent carrying heavy loads in the FEL bucket, otherwise the potential to roll it is there.

Whenever moving a heavy load in the B3300SU bucket have ample counterbalance mounted on the Three Point Hitch. Backhoe is one example of ample counterbalance.

You can power a 5' Rotary Cutter. You can pull a Disc Harrow with 18" diameter pans. You can pull a 12" X two bottom moldboard plow at full throttle, but you need a contemporary plow, sized to this "intermediate" frame tractor, such as plows sold by everytfhingattachments.com. Old plows, designed for the larger Ford 9N/2N/8N, have a main beam that is too long and collide with the B3300SU bodywork.

Small issues: The HST transmission has a high pitched whine. Using Kubota "Super UDT2" hydraulic fluid reduces the whine significantly. I always wore ear plugs operating the B3300SU.

I believe all B3300SU tractors came with hydrostatic (HST) transmission. Highly desirable, even with the whine.

No Position Control on the Three Point Hitch hydraulic lift. Instead, B3300SU has QIV, also written as 1/4" valve. Personally, I liked the QIV, especially when using my Moldboard Plow and Disc Harrow. QIV only fell short when operating a Rotary Cutter, and you work around this handily with $30 limit chains. Most B3300SU owners never read how to adjust the QIV in the Operator's Manual.

With Backhoe and Auger, 182 hours and a price of $6,500 YOU SHOULD GRAB IT IMMEDIATELY. A new BX25 tractor-loader-backhoe is $18,500, plus sales tax, and BX25 is less capable.

If your seller financed his tractor through Kubota, and he is still paying, there is a 90% chance the tractor is covered by KTAC insurance that will cover bodywork and all other "damage" repairs after $250 deductible, for the current, enrolled owner.

Go buy it!!!!!

You sure price isn't $16,500 instead of $6,500? Even that would still be an good price with damage as described. Even if parts were a few grand for cosmetic purposes (which I am assuming from description), at around 180 hours for $6,500...that's a wow price!

I am going to add my recommendation for a HydrauLink Top Link for the B3300SU and other light tractors. HydrauLink acts as a shock absorber between the tractor and ground contact implements, which a factory Top Link does not. The B3300SU is light but powerful. I think the HydrauLink significantly adds to the longevity of the frame, specifically the welds. Same for implements.

You will see the HydrauLink in a good number of my pictures in Post #5.

Buy from Amazon, eBay or Agri Supply.

Holy cow man! I sold my b3300su with 400hrs no hoe last year for $17k. The hoe would've added another $3-5k depending on the model.
Too good to be true!!! A very very good tractor. I just wanted/needed bigger.

Jeff has provided very good advice here IMHO.
