Default maybe upgrading from a M5040 to a M7060 cab

    Morning everyone
I haven't been on much but after last summer I thought about upgrading my tractor. Been looking around for a cab and I talked to my local kubota dealer. He suggested that I go with a M6060. I couldn't justify sending that kind of cash for a new one. So he has been looking for a used one for me. He found a M7060 for a real good price. its a 2015 with 170 hours on it. I went and looked at it yesterday and wow that is a machine. Now I only had my 2007 M5040 2wd for three years and looking at this... again wow. its a lot more machine that I need but I will be able to do a lot more down the road. I am bush hogging 20 acres a month in different spots and I have a couple of customer that would like me to work at there hunting camp this fall. This is a HUGE step for me and in upgrades. Hoping to work out the final details Monday.

I will post a pic later on today.

    Shane

Sounds like a great move!!! What size mower are you using to mow that much land?

You will notice the difference in the 7060 having 4WD more than anything else. The M5040 and M7060 will have the same basic size frame but the 7060 will weigh more because of the 4WD and the cab.

With only 170 hours the tractor isn't even broken in yet. I hope you enjoy the new tractor. Post pictures when you get it.

My M7060HDC12 had only 179 hours on it when I picked it up 6 weeks ago so I'm breaking it in also. Already have 211 hours on mine. Is the one you are looking at the 8 speed or the 12 speed? Front end loader mounted on it?
Feature I really like when mowing is the 540E PTO option. With the power that engine puts out, no need to run the engine @ 2200 rpm to get 540 rpm to the mower. 1800 engine rpm gets you 540 with the E PTO option.

If you are going to be using the tractor mainly for mowing, you will REALLY want the 12 speed.

I think you will be glad you upgraded once you get use to the M7060, we have an M8540 and is extremely maneuverable. I agree 12/12 is the way to go if you can, but if the deal is good enough...

Hey Eddie. I have a 7 ft bushing brand 297. That 20 acres is in four diffract locations.

It does have the front end loader with two rear remotes. Its an 8 speed transmission. The 12 would be great but have not seem any used ones down south.
Yeah I mostly bushing with the tractor and some dirt work. The rear tires are a lot taller than my poor little 5040. I showed my dad some pics and he was shocked how much larger it was.

I would have the dealer keep looking for a 12 speed. For a machine you are using mowing, 8 speeds are not going to cut it. Even if you get the 12 speed, you will be wishing for more gears.

It looks like the bucket is hardly used and I bet the last owner used it a couple of years mowing and it drove him crazy, so he traded it in. Don’t make the same mistake.

There is no such thing as a great deal on the wrong tractor.

had the m7040 8 sp for a while w/6' hog. you will be fine with the 8 sp machine & 7' hog. good match. keeping the cutters sharp to me is just as important as fretting over ground speed, just use the low range if needed....
don't fret over the 12 vs 8 sp... perhaps if you were drilling seed, etc you'd notice the difference. sounds like a good move on your part
