BX2200
Went to dealer yesterday to look at the bx2200. I was thinking of buying one in the spring. The dealer came right out and said he would sell me a new bx2200 with 60" mmm,
fel, and loaded turf tires for $11,800. Looking at previous posts this seems like a great price. We talked some more and he said he had a used bx1800 with 105 hours on it with the 54" mmm, fel, and loaded turf tires, for $9,400. That is a $2,400 difference... I have 1.5 acres of land, 2/3rds is lawn, the rest is woods, all of it is on a slope or hill. My practial side says get the bx1800 and use the $2400 for other things, but I can't help thinking about the bx2200 which is new and be my baby.
One other question is the 54" deck. In the brochure it says the 60" deck is self-balance suspended linkage and the 54" deck is just suspended linkage. Is there a big deal without the self-balancing part?
Thanks

If I'd have been offered that deal I would have gone with the BX1800. Just make sure that you 'earmark' some of that saved cash for tractor implements for being prudent!!

Only thing as always is to check the service history.

I have a similar sized property and a BX2200. I like my 60"MMM but for an acre or so of lawn a 54"MMM is not much different. The "self balanced suspension linkage" is a necessity for the width of the 60"MMM not an extra. The 54"MMM doesn't need it. I think if I were in a position to make that choice I would save some $ and get the BX1800. I've used the BX2200, hard, with a box blade, rake, etc.. and I'm sure in my situation I wouldn't miss the extra 4 HP. I would welcome a tiller and post hole digger with that extra cash! Just MHO.

Well I went back to the dealer and guess what? The used bx1800 was sold. So I went with the bx 2200 with fel,60" mmm, loaded tires, rear work light and some hooks on the bucket, 11,800. I take delivery next week. So much for waiting for next spring... I sold my old lawn tractor and snow blower to a friend so I hope to use that money to get a rear blade and some other stuff. Thanks for your advice.

Captain, Congratulations. I am also in the market for a bx and would be interested to learn your location and dealer info for pricing purposes if your are in New England. Thanks.
