Here goes another newbie question, I am setting up my new 3830 with the Top and Tilt kit, My dealer tells me this takes two remotes, makes sense to me, now I am wondering about adding the third remote? Is there much of anything I would need to hook up? Or need the 3rd for? The dealer is telling that if I need to use a remote, just unhook one of the other 2 for the top or tilt?

My buddy says he has a disc he will loan me that has a hydraulic arm on it? So he says I will need the remote for that, Should I spend the 400+ and add the 3rd? Or will I never use it? I am planning on using the box blade quite a bit so I figured the top and tilt would make that much more convienent and useful?

What other implements will I find the top and tilt useful for?

Thanks,

Ryan

I have three. In the summer, I have top 'n' tilt and one open that admittedly is rarely used. In the winter, I take off the hydraulic side link and use one for the top link, one for the snowblower chute rotation, and the third for hydraulic chute deflector. You never know what you might use a third for down the road. Maybe a log splitter?

Log splitter would be handy, but can't I disconnect one of the other remotes for the top or tilt? Thanks for the information

You certainly could. I had a need for three so that's what I went with. Just pointing out the possibility that someday down the road you might wish for the third remote, and since you're in the business of doing them now, it might be cheaper/easier to just do it all at once.

Now I don't live in an area where I would ever really use a snowblower (but it sounds like it would be cool /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif), my Kubota dealer actually talked me out of a 3rd remote. He told me that he'd be happy to charge me for one and put one on, but that I'd likely not ever need it based on what I do. So far, he has saved me some money and it has never been an issue for me. Your mileage may vary. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I had all three installed on mine when purchased and have been very glad I did!. I was going to get one, but decided to go for all. I use two for top and tilt and the other as needed.

I am going to add different hydraulic cylinders on some of my implements this winter as projects and the remotes will be needed then.

Yeah for 400 more its there if I ever need it, and if I don't, maybe it will make resale better if I ever get rid of this tractor.

ksmmoto,
What implements are you going to put hydraulics on? I am just wondering how to make things more useful/easier to use, plus its always fun or I mean neccessary to have more toys...or I mean tools to use around the place....

Some box blades have hydraulically operated sacrifices, which I think would require that third remote. Maybe someone who has one will chime in here and give us the information.

During the summer months I use the third remote for my hydraulic dump trailer. It can also be used for hydraulic scarifers on a box scraper or for an angle cylinder for say a landscape rake or standard back blade.

rk246, I have two remotes and I need a third. I will add a third when I take the tractor in for service but the tractor won't break. The main reason I need the third remote is when I'm clearing brush and making trails/roads with the top and tilt box blade the third remote will be used for a bucket grapple. I was thinking that if I find a a three way blade the third one would also be needed. When I bought the tractor I kept adding things and the 20k tractor soon became the 30k tractor and I had to cut corners someplace. Heck, It cost more than any vehicle I have ever had! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

But I never smiled this much driving a vehicle on the road and I know it will last a lot longer. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
