I have been looking at the Woods BH80-X backhoe. Has anyone used one of these. I would like to know if there is much of a difference between that backhoe and the Kabota BH75. There is a $1000.00 difference in price. I am going to be putting this on eather the L3240 or L3430. I haven't made up my mind yet on the tractor. Once again I want to thank everyone for your input. It has helped me a great deal putting together my new tractor's package.

Go to both web pages and compare specs. The Kubota has more break-out force etc. and is plumbed via. quick connects to tractor hydraulics. Also comes with the sub-frame.

Woods has less break-out force and is powered by a self contained hydraulic unit that attaches with a pump to the PTO shaft. I don't know about if it come with a sub-frame.

There are a bunch of other back-hoe attachments from other's that I believe are all PTO powered.

Some here on TBN state that Woods and others are "Beefier" in construction to the Kubota Backhoes.

For my L3400, I am going with the Kubota BH 75, 16" bucket.

You may want to take your own advice and look into this further. The Woods backhoe does not use a PTO pump, it plumbs off the tractor just like the Kubota does. Like the Kubota it also mounts on a 4-point subframe. The Woods BH80X is about 20% stronger than the Kubota BH75. Kubota's backhoe is a very nice hoe, it prices well, its easier to take off the tractor than the Woods is. Woods is a curved boom with is easier to dig a flat trench with and its more powerful. A high volume Woods dealer can sell a BH80 at only a marginly higher price than a BH75. I sell them both, we probably do about 50/50.

Thank You Messick Farm Equipment,

I stand corrected on my fault's in my post and and appreciate your expertise on this topic. We all learn here on TBN from people like you who take time to educate us.

I will now "explore" more backhoe attachments for my L3400 before I cash in on "Taxa - Clause" day.

Again, "Thank You"

Good info as always Neil - what is a fair price for the BH75 and the Woods BH80x? I plan on buying one of the two, if not a Woods BH70x, at some point for my new B7800

Thanks for the info albmn10. I live in northern Maine. Maybe I need to do some more talking with my dealer. I am kind of shifting to the Woods BH80-x over the BH75. It seams to be a little stronger rig.

Since you are going to spend for a backhoe; I strongly recommend getting the 9' hoe! You will regret it later with the BH75. If you plan on doing any construction work, i.e. building a home, garage, barn, leach field, long trenching jobs, installing septic tanks, and etc. With the 9' reach, movement of the tractor will be less, and that extra reach comes in handy for many other things. I speak from my experience! The resale value is also enhanced, if you ever decide to sell.

Thanks machmeter62 for the info. I am going to be doing alot of stump work and think the BH80-X is better fit for that type of work.
