Project "Resurrection" G4200
well i was given this Kubota G4200 HST about 3years ago by my aunt after my uncle was killed by a drunk driver. He took the deck off on a friday to rebuild it and he was killed sunday afternoon. The tractor was bought new by his dad. Its been sitting in my yard for almost 3years. i have finally decided to bring her back to life. i know its gunna take tike and money , but its for my Uncle.
I plan to repaint, and get it back to proper functioning order. the engine turns over, but wont start. the deck needs new pulleys and so for.
anyway i can find out wht year it is??

Re: Project "Resurrection" G4200
You can buy an Owner's Manual, Shop Manual, and Parts Manual for that tractor from Messicks.com for less than $125 total. If you don't have any of those, you need them. This is the best money you will ever spend on restoration. The confidence those manuals give you to know you are doing it right is priceless. Good luck! Make your uncle proud.

Re: Project "Resurrection" G4200
My G4200 is a 1984, I don't know how many years they were available. The dealer still gets me any part I have needed so far. Mines a diesel 2 cyl 12HP. 3 sp manual shift. I bought it new in 1984.

A Dealer may be able to determine the year from the serial no. ?

That looks like a very worthwhile project.

Re: Project "Resurrection" G4200
The G200 series were produced up until 1988. The G3200/G4200 were equipped with the gear type transmission. The G4200H/G5200H had the HST type transmission. If yours is the HST model you will require the H version manual.
