Re: Kubota W5021-sc lawn mower
I have two
One is push
One is self propelled
I am proud of the mower but not me that the mower went 17 years without oil change.
That's mowing 6000 sf of tall fescue and st Augustine in so cal where grass is green year round
I've cleaned the carb a few times of debris
I put a new rope and plug in at 17 years.
It's still on original blade.
My wife work at toro irrigation in riverside and though I could had a two stroke commercial toro for less, I opted for the kubota and what a workhorse
Power efficient ease to start
I choke and by third lazy pull it fires up and runs.
Dumbest thing kubota ever did past changing their logo was dropping this mower

Re: Kubota W5021-sc lawn mower
my aunt gave me her w5021. It had the dipstick broken, or a hole ..... it seized from running out of oil. She lived a small town in NW WA and took it to local auto mechanic/garage. He fixed mower (minimal work....never rebuilt it) and it still runs fine to this day. Alum deck sure helps the longevity.

Been looking for a good lawn mower (hard to find these days) to replace my 25 year old lawnboy. The lawnboy still runs, but not very well and the drive train is shot on the self-propelled. We only use the small lawn mower to knock down the grass paths in the garden where the rider won't fit. Ended up picking up this 5021-SC that was in fantastic shape (almost like new).
I wasn't quite sure what I had bought (quality wise) until I read this post. I just figured if it's orange, it's got to be good! Glad to have another orange lawn tool around the property.Thomas (aka Kubota Tee)

I can't believe paint could look that good. You think it was rattle-canned maybe? none of my business really, but how much did you pay for that beauty?

I picked it up from a young guy (maybe mid twenties) who's Dad works at a kubota dealer. Someone had traded it in on a rider and the dealership went through it and tuned it up as well as cleaned it up. Yes, there is evidence of some paint touch ups! The guy was asking $150. I offered $130 cash and he accepted. Put it right to work when I got it home. I'm very happy with my purchase!

Re: Kubota W5021-sc lawn mower
I have a ton of parts for this mower including the mower. Mine is 24 years old and in the south we cut the grass year round at least once a week.Suddenly started to seize up and started smoking before I could stop it. I just listed 2 new grass bags on ebay and started looking for more info and found this site. I had to have a mower quick so I bite the bullet and bought a new Honda HRX. Don't get me wrong it is a great mower BUT! I would trade it any day for a running W5021. My kubota guy said it would cost more to fix than a new Honda. I wish I had let him fix it anyway. I have not had the heart to scrap it yet. It sit in my barn awaiting me to tear it down and rebuild the engine. I also have the owners manual if anyone wants a pdf copy I can send it. Just email me.
