Advice needed. I'm trying to decide between ZD1211 and F2690. Currently I use a ZD21 which is a very good mower. The problem I have is that my lawn is very rough and I am tired of getting beat to death. The question I have does have experience with both and would the F2690 offer a better ride than the ZD1211?

I have the F2680 which is the same as the 2690 and a new ZD1211. I find it hard to tell the difference in ride. The ZD has a better seat then my F but they are comparable in ride. Both have their advantages and drawbacks. As for the ZD21, it has small tires compared to the 1211 so it will ride rougher. I let most the air out of the rear tires in mine so that may help with the ride.

Once you have an F series Kubota you would find it tough going back to a ztr.I sold a Hustler fastrack and bought my F3680 and only wish i had done it sooner! Mowing is definitely easier on the body and i find having the deck out front has much better visibility.I have used a friends ZD331 which has the same size deck as mine and i much prefer the F for comfort..just my two cents worth!!

I've owned 3 different Fs and currently still own one F3080 72" rear discharge. I bought one F2680e new, used it on flat rental property, traded it to a new F3080 and then later bought it back and since then have traded it to a ZD326 for the flat rental property. Also bought a small Z for home property which is mostly hillside but with some level. It was bought for my wife to help me mow some at home. T Z can't hack hillside property, only the F3080 4wd does it safely.
The Z on rental property is faster around rental units but falls behind the F on the open field areas and getting up under trees/shrubs. The Z bounces all over the rough level field with constant movement of handles to keep it straight at speed where the F will move on out and keeps itself fairly straight. Both ride about the same with the suspension seat being the same on both. Put a suspension seat on the small Z at home and wife loves it.
Mowing parking lots will be the same on both but in the real world of steep land and rough land the F is the winner hands down from my own hands on experience with both on the same property over the past 8 years. Only had the Z for almost 2 years with son in law mostly using the Z and saying about the same as me with his experience.

I echo John Thomas, having had a ZD326 and now an F3680, especially slopes. The F is fast.

I'll add......the Z had left a ring around just about everything. And I tried to be very easy going around things, still did it. With the F most of that has stopped. My technique for trimming around things is different with the F, a tad slower, but the results to me is better.

One more comment, you will feel like you have done arm exercises with the ZD. Nothing beats a steering wheel for ease of steering.
But I do have to dispute the ride. Maybe its the large diameter tires on the new ZD but I can't say it rides worse than my F.

I'm going to be another vote for an f series.

I recently purchased an f3060 and I'm loving it. Once I got the suspension seat adjusted properly I find the ride to be easy on my back and arms. It's a little slower them a zero turn in tight areas but in open fields it sure mows fast.

After running both for a bit now I find the Z turn with the suspended deck scallops worse in uneven terrain. The front mount follows contours better. I wish they would make a ground contact deck for z turn but maybe they wouldn't stand up.

I found that out too. I get a better cut with the F than the Z.
