How big of a ploughing disc can I handle???

I have a L3540 and need to start leveling a field. It was a corn field and we are going to plough up the weeds and level it for our new house. My friend has a 8 foot plough...the manual says a 6 footer is max.

He says my tractor should handle it..just take it easy and slow.

Any recommendations???
