My dealer called me and left a message Saturday (after I called him to find out where the seat was on Friday). He had to track down his Kubota rep - and according to the message - the demand for these seats is so high Kubota appears to be rationing them out while more are coming in... he had ordered 20-some - he's supposed to be getting 6 this week - since he called again - and I'm one of the 6! We shall see.

I didn't realize the old seats were that atrocious and that many people hated them. I ordered one because of a three cornered tear from a screwdriver in a back pocket, and since the tractor never sets out, maybe I should give mine up to help fill the demand. Ok when your seat comes in, I'll be expecting a Thank You card.

Just went to my dealer today and took my old seat in and he gave me new one at no cost. I will be installing it in a little while. Looks like a much better seat than the one that came on the tractor.

UPDATE ==> Took 5 minutes to install and WOW, that seat is MUCH better than the old seat! If you have not upgraded DO IT!

Just picked mine up. Haven't installed it, but it looks MUCH more accomodating with a nice pocket for your rear, nice bolsters, and a nice "rearward" slope to the whole thing.

In addition, it is covered with what seems to be a more flexible vinyl (expensive feeling) and the underlying foam seems to be of a MUCH higher quality when given the squish test.

Well worth $35 if I get nothing more out of the deal than a nice shop stool.

i called my dealer too many times on this issue and they are clueless, is it possible to get a new seat from a dealer that is familiar with this seat problem?

I just got a reply from Messicks to my email, so all you guys still waiting listen (read?) up!

My order is still in the system and waiting to be filled, so I'm assuming all of your are too! Good news in any event, just happy I wasn't forgotten, the demand for these things must be through the roof!!!!

Shownuff, go to Messick Equipment and Outdoor Power - New Holland - Kubota - Case IH - Parts, Sales & Service and look for their Kubota seat program. Many of us have ordered from them and we're on back order (see posts above). Don't know if they are still accepting orders. There was a post in this thread from Messick's that they were getting close to selling out of the inventory they have coming from Kubota. Good luck.

UPDATE: Dealer ordered 42. Received 3 so far. I was #2. They are providing to customers before they are even putting on thier in-stock tractors. Sure is great to have a good dealer...

~25.8 minutes to install myself. Sortof a pain in the butt with the Woods rotating seat conversion for the BH. Once I figgered it out, things went together famously.

Regarding the seat: HEAVEN. I never really understood why the old seat even HAD a back...I had to artificially straighten just to contact it. With the new seat, you are in a very well-sculpted pocket. There aren't any pressure points (like the point of your bum contacting the bottom of the old seat after a while) and you are naturally in a very relaxed, if not very slightly reclined, position. The foam is of very high quality and the bolsters are just right for me (6'-0" and ~195#). If you are overly rotund, perhaps the whole thing could feel slightly confining, but I'll reserve judgement until I get a rotund person to sit in it.

It was funny because I installed the seat and took the trash out (a couple runs down the driveway), put the tractor away, then straightaway sat in my $800 office chair in which I can easily spend 10 hours a day (blessed to work at home). I would honestly rate the comfort level as quite similar, if not the same. It will be a wonderful perch from which to terrorize my yard.

As folks have said: GET IT. It's worth it. I'd say it was worth a $150+ replacement cost if that is what you had to do (but even better at $35 or whatever your dealer is charging). It changes the tractor experience THAT MUCH.

The worst part is that at the end of a day's work, it is going to be much tougher to get OUT of this seat than the old one. Almost a little too comfy...
