What is the hook that holds clutch down used for?
I use the rear hydraulics for a log splitter with the
tractor out of gear. Will holding clutch down give me
more hydro power? What else would it be for?
Thanks,
h-bob

The clutch hold downs are used when storing the tractor for long periods. It prevents the clutch from corroding and freezing closed.

Do you get any hydraulic pressure or flow increase if it is held down?
And do you benefit from tractor being out of gear when
needing hydraulic pressure for stationary jobs?
I have the HST model.

I don't know about extra flow for sure but I don't think so. THe pump for the HST is not the same pump as the hydraulics.

Being out of gear will not help.

The 3pt and remotes use hydraulic fluid from the engine mounted pump. Unless there is so much drag (well below 0f cold tractor cold fluid) that the engine is dragging down it's rpms, you won't get any benefit from dogging down the peddle.

If you park the machine for more than 2 weeks to a month, you should dog down the peddle to keep from sticking the clutch. This is a problem that tracks the humidity and condensation of an area. Prevelant in the deep south and areas with a lot of rain fall. Obviously worse if the machine is parked outside.
