Default 4wd 3830 Front Axle Leaking

Hello. My very reliable 2005 3830 is leaking axle lube on the LH side. The leak is coming from the steering pivot point at the LH wheel. Has anyone else had a similar problem? My tractor has 353 hours on it. I will be taking it to the shop tomorrow. Any advice would be great apperciated. Thank you.

Your leak might be from as little as a blade of grass that got into the seal area holding it open. Dirt is also right up on the list of of credents that cause this type of leak. It could have been caused from power washing which might have given the dirt an upper hand in getting to the seals.

If I were you I'd consider changing the seal yourself. I did mine in less than an hour. It's not a complicated job that can be done in less than an hour.

Intresting! So you changed the seal without disassembling the front axle? Did you do this work on a Grand L30 Series? Thanks for the help.

Is your tractor a 2004 model? Do you know how to take the front axle apart? I didn't see any mean of securing the king pin joint. My tractor is at the dealer. He said the bearing may have some slop in it. They will check it out. I know it starts seeping oil when I'm in 4wd pushing with the loader. This situation is putting high stress on the joint. On the larger 30 seires tractors there is a brace that helps support this joint. Wish the smaller 30 series had it too....
