Kubota BX2230
Anyone use a Bush Hog M146 on a BX? Capacities look higher than the Kubota LA211.

The Kubota loader was built for the BX series. The Bush hog was built to fit as many tractors as it can possibly fit.
I always figured that if a manufacturer could build a bigger or better they would have. The chances are the front end of the BX can only effectively carry the amount of weight that their loader will carry well.

I would use the kubota loader. It was engineered for the tractor. Also, for the bush hog loader, if you look at the spec sheet it is rated for 1875 psi@6 GPM. the BX only has 1778-1849 psi at 3.1 gpm. (actual pump gpm is a shade over 6 gpm, however it uses a flow priority valve to feed the steering and pto clutch cutting implement flow to just over 3 gpm) So, attaining those specs is not within the tractor's capability.
Hope this helps,
Dave

Thanks for the feedback. After doing some pricing I'm now thinking about trading in the 2230 for a 3030. I can get a 3030 with a loader, MMM, etc. for 12 and change plus my 2230, which doesn't seem too bad to me. I am looking at close to 4k to have a loader installed on the 2230.

I have a Bushhog loader on my B8200. It works great. But, when I added the loader, the original loader was not available any more(Tractor series was built '85,'86 B7200/b8200/b9200, and was foirerunner to B2150 and later B2710). to use a Kubota loader, the frame would have required modification. The Bushhog was a bolt-on.

If I were getting a new or near new tractor, I would get the factory loader, even though I have been more than happy with the after market unit.

Four grand seems way too much for a BX loader. When I bough my tractor the dealer gave me a quote to put a NEW Kubota loader on a used BX 2350 (if I remember correctly) and it would have cost me about $2200. I went with a used B7510 and payed an extra $3k for a new LA302 loader, installed.

I have been using a Woods loader on a BX2230 and I couldn't be more pleased with it. The installation is every bit as good as the Kubota OEM unit and when compared side by side the install looks stronger on the Woods. I also have the Woods BH on the tractor. Both have been excellent. Some issues with the BH hoses and the BH seems to get limp quicker than other BH's, but overall both have been well worth it.
