Both the starter switch and headlight combo switch are subject to
water and dirt entry. If I recall, you can not turn on the headlights
unless the starter switch is on. That is why the combo switch has a
connection to the starter switch.
Replace at least your starter switch (about $60). Then you will also have
the ability to use the glow plug position (counter clockwise from OFF).
Oh yeah, don't let water get into the new switch(es). Good Luck.
