BX Tie Rod Boot Guard (How to make)

Materals: 17/8 OD Exhaust pipe 1/4-20 screw,lock washer ,nut Tools: Pliers, Aviation snips, ball peen hammer,1/2 dia bolt,11/4socket (1) cut 2 pieces 2 1/2 lg (2) cut 1 1/8 wide strips long way out of pipe (3) cut slits 1" lg by 3/4 apart along one end of pipe (4) bend slits inward forming a funnel shape (5) at other end bend a 1/8' flange around pipe using pliers (6) use hammer & 1 1/4 socket too tighten and straigthen piece (7) use snips and cut off all sharp edges and make sure that a 1/2 slot is straight on funnrl end (8) use the piece cut from pipe in step 2 to make strap 3/4" wide (9) bend it in a U shaoe around 1/2" bolt (10) put 1/2" piece wood in the U shape and drill thruogh both ends 5/16" hole (11) Mig weld the U shape on the end of pipe with the funnel and weld the 1/4- 20 nut on one side of Ushape strip (12) grind all sharp edges (13) paint I HOPE THIS HELPS

I may give it a try myself, even though I've only got a little portable brazing torch. if the brazing doesn't hold, I can always make another one, right?

(I envy you guys that have TIG welders and all sorts of fabrication equipment)
