Help! I just scored an "01" B2910 WSD with 54" 402 FEL and 54" 4-way box scraper-only 77 hours and nubbies on all four R-4's. Now the bad: owner deceased: wiring and inst. panels been destroyed by mice: key is lost: ign. sw. has been screwdrivered and starter solenoid has been hot wired with a pushbutton switch on side of cowl. The engine will start with hot wire switch and run for 1 or 2 seconds then I can hear the fuel solenoid cut off.
So...bright idea: hot wire 12V to white wire on fuel solenoid. Great! Fired up and ran for 2 whole minutes until solenoid caught fire and shut down. Do any of you vets out there know if the "run" voltage (hold-open mode) is other than 12 V starting voltage??? Say 5 or 6 Volts? Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Just need to run it long enough to raise the FEL and RBS, and drive it home 1/4 mile. So that I can put it in my shop and fix it right. Thanks in advance, flatfenderguy |

I just worked on a 3 cylinder kubota that had a solenoid shut off. Except when power is applied to this one it shuts it off! Might be backwards, I have no idea. For your situation I'd just take some fencing wire or equivalent and fix it in position so it will stay on. Then when you get home pull the wire out and shut it off by hand. Just an idea. My solenoid doesn't appear to be something that should have power to it continuously. Maybe that is why your's burned??

thanks Tim. Makes sense... .Bailing wire has worked for flatfenders and power wagons for years; should work on a bota, esp. if its imported wire. we'll give 'er a try this wknd. Thanks again Flatfenderguy

Usually if the solenoid has three terminals it has a common and then one circuit for shut down and one for hold open to make it run.
