Default Why is a Kubota BX24 better than a John Deere 2305

Your opinon on why you would buy a Bx 24 over a John Deere 2305 ???????? Please be technical with your answers. I'm curious on why people buy one over the other. THANKS

There were a few deal-breaking reasons that made me scratch the JD off my list when I was tractor shopping:
  • ROPS doesn't fold (although it is about 7" shorter than the BX, so it would have cleared my garage door opening)
  • Fuel tank capacity (this wouldn't matter to me now that I see how infrequently I have to fill up my tank)
  • FEL raising and curling times appear to be excuciatingly slow.
Have you looked at the Massey Ferguson MF2310 at all? That's also a comparable machine.

I'm attaching a spreadsheet (had to zip it to post it) with some comparisons of the three models. This was mostly copied from a spreadsheet someone else put together and it has some useful specs. But like most will tell you, don't worry about what tractor is the best, because that all depends on your needs and also on your dealer.

I went to Prizers in South Coventry, PA to look at the Deere. The response I got was, "Oh, those tractors are really expensive..." and was basically dismissed because of being young, I suppose.

The closest MF dealer looked like an abandoned crack house and there was only one new tractor on the lot - just didn't get a good feeling.

I didn't buy my tractor from my closest Kubota dealer, because a certain member of this forum was able to give me a much better price. But I do frequent my local dealer and like the place very much. I especially like that the employees smoke behind the counter (I hate all the anti-smoking stuff) and there are four cats that live inside there and sleep on tractor seats.

Me! For my needs, anyway. The 2305 certainly may be better for the guy next door though. It's an odd thing to ask for someone who already has a BX24 - especially one with 890 hours.

You have 890 hrs on your BX already??????????? Seems you just bought it a few months ago. Does it ever cool off? Where are the project pics? I know you posted a few when you first got it.

I had a similar experience as Raycoat at two John Deere dealers. I like to consider me a boyishly looking 41. They weren't interested in negotiating and getting a catalog was like pulling teeth.
The best response I got was from a Kioti dealer. He was great and pointed out how much better the CK20 was to the BX. A fairer comparison would have been the CK20 to a B series.
The Massey dealer was good but far. I did like the GC3210. There are only two dealers that were within distance and they were 30 miles and 60 miles away.
I went three New Holland dealers. I would say one was very good and really wanted me to buy one, one thought he was selling gold and the other guy was more of a construction equipment dealer and had a small "Blue" stock, mostly yellow NH.
I got a great response for 4 of 4 Kunota dealers I dealt with.

I picked the BX. I started looking at the BX and looked at the competition and came back to Kubota. The Kubota pricing is a big decision maker. I think they are offering 0%/42 months on the financing.

I am very happy with my BX24.

I don't believe that theres enough technical difference between all the machines in the SCUT class to amount to much. Technocally I'll venture that the placement of the HST pedal(s) probably influences a buyer more than any other feature besides the color of the machine. Course price is ALWAYS the bottom line
Theres minor differences but at the end of the day all these machines will have done the same amount of work with the same amount of effort, they're that close.
The Kubota BX's, JD 3305, MF GC's, NH TZ's are all good machines and one should test out each one and go with the one that fits best.

I wanted a Kubota for about 20 years...so I didn't look to long kinda knew what I wanted before I started looking. However the local dealer is what made the diffrence. Nothing against the local JD dealer....but the Kubota dealer was and has been great...

One other odd off topic thing I noticed..around here it seems folks that live in NH tend to buy Kubota and folks that live across the river in VT tend to buy JD...its not strict rule just something I have noticed....
