I've read several times about the switched not being very good on the Kubota's, but I also thought it would never happen to me.
The other morning I went out and heard this strange noise...It stopped. Thought nothing more about it. Walked by my tractor again, heard the noise just long enough to notice it, but still didn't know where it was coming from. ABout 4 hours later, walked outby the tractor and heard the noise. I finally recognized the sound. It was the fuel pump. The dash lights were on! I'm thinking I forgot to turn the switch off or my 2 year old finally learned how to turn the key (I tried not to show her where the key was since she mastered the FEL pretty quickly). The key was off. I figured if the switch was to go bad, it would do it while I was using it, not when it was not being used. SO of course since the fuel pump had it been running for hours, I decided to see if it would start. Started right up...I turned the key off...Oh crap!!! It didn't shut off. I got smart and used one of those safety switch that I have become so annoyed with and it shut it off. Of course it has been a week and the dealer has come with the new part, had to order the darn thing... Now I am afraid to run it on my property because I am afraid it will shut off when I am going down some of these 30 degree hills I have and get stuck at the bottom. Just thought I would share my pain with only 55 hours on it. Of course I never looked at the meter before disconencting the battery. It is probably higher than that now.

I would invest in a $50.00 plastic tarp for the machine if it must stay outside.
Cheap insurance........... Craig

No offense, but you can't really complain about the quality of the machine if you leave it exposed to the elements. Like the man said, through a tarp over it. The better you treat it, the better it'll treat you. ![]() |

Besides if a little rain is going to be that detrimental to my tractor, I better never wash the tractor. What will the garden hose do to it? I was just basically trying to let people know that the switch is still not very good (since my tractor is less than a year old) and watch washing their tractor even with a garden hose could damage it. I never spray hard around that area, but others might.

tractors are designed to sit in the rain. better if you don't have to but the bottom line is most sit in fields the entire life. Thats like saying if your car dies shame on you for letting it sit in the rain.
some people will never be accused of being over kind.
