Neil,
The video was a great public/TBN community service. I removed my BH for the first time yesterday. The right side pin comes out easy, the left one needs an adjuster, aka hammer. Only thing I could think of is unlevel ground. I removed it on a patio block pad. Pretty level, but was just wondering, if your off just a hair, will it make it tough. The hoses come off easy. Now for the reinstall in a couple of weeks, I imagine the BH will leak down. I guess I back in, install hoses and use the hydraulics to lift it in place. Is that right? Thanks, Ed PS Neil, I'll be out your way late August. I'll probably drop in to pick up 50 hr service supplies and look at the new models. Ohhhh, ahhh.

While it's nice to see how quickly it can be done, it would also be nice for new folks to see more clearly how it is done, and more clearly what things to look for.

Taking the BH and FEL off is the easy parts. For that matter so is putting the BH on. The worst part is if you sit it on the ground, it is a bit of a pain to get lined up to get the hoses to reach. I usually just sit up on blocks.
The fun part is putting on that FEL when you don't have level ground. I spent over an hour one day, gave up and just about pushed the darn thing over the hill. The next day, drove up to it, connected the hoses and it was on in less than 5 minutes. I have one issue with my FEL though. A bit odd. Sometimes the red hose wil not come off very easily or go on very easily. I've tried the bleed thing, but still have issues. But here is the weird part the red female will go right on any other male end, and any other female will go on the red male connector. I've yet to figure this one out. I was about to call the dealer for new connectors, but since they work on every other connection and not on the red to red (sometimes it slips right on) I figured they would just laugh at me. For the newbies, make sure you get that hose connected that is hanging off the tractor after taking the BH off. If you don't the hydraulics won't work. That's another one of those things I almost called the dealer about, I thought it was connected, but when I was trying to figure out why the FEL wouldn't raise, I finally found that it didn't slip in all the way.

Also, as a safety measure, I always lower my outriggers to the pint where they are just touching the gound just in case it would go to tip when I am taking it off. You never know when you might hit the wrong lever or hit it too hard. Especially helpful on the uneven ground too.

Well, I was able to remove my backhoe, attach an implement, and then reinstall the backhoe. This was the first time I've done any of this.
Removing the BH took around two hours; reinstalling it took about an hour. Hey, I'm delighted it worked at all! I can't describe the relief I felt when those pins went in.
