Does anyone have a 4690 A or B backhoe attachment on an L-series tractor? I have a chance to pick up a used 4690A and use it on my L3540 cab tractor. Has anyone used this backhoe on an L-series? I am thinking that the larger frame tractor will not have the problem with the weak toplink bracket and I would not have to worry about damage or cracking. Anyone have an opinion? Also, what is the difference between a 4690A and 4690B ?

The only torn out top links that I remember seeing were L series tractors, That is what kept me from getting a 3point BH. If you check I think you will be able to come up with the appropriate top link reinforcing kit like the attached breakdown for my L4200 cab tractor. Even with the kit I do not think a 3point BH is a good idea. KennyV.

I tryed to get a renforced top link a few ago and my dealer assured me that Kubota had made changes in the base metal that holds the bolts and the bolts also. He assured me that I would have no problems.I have a 3PH skidding winch that I built and it has a 10,500 lb winch on it. This is where my concerns arose.

Deerlope, I sure hope your dealer is right,
there is no reason any tractor should have been made with a week top link.
The memory of the pictures of the torn away top links has kept me from really loading that point on mine. Those pictures must have been so bad I did not save them I am still trying to get those images out of MY mind. KennyV.

it looks like even the L4610 had a weak link. I thought that the larger tractors were strong enough. Maybe I should bite the bullet and get the BH90-X that would work with my tractor....

TMC2318,
I have the same combination of Kubota equipment as "Deerlope". RTV 900 & an L3830 GST --- we couldn't get along without either one of them.

I have a BH90 backhoe which is "sub-frame" mount because I had also heard of problems with 3PH backhoes. It's a great set-up, it's very strong, and operation is smooth. Now that I have removed the backhoe a few times, it is very easy. I haven't timed it, but I may spend slightly more time putting the 3PH back on than I spend taking the backhoe off. The whole process is not a big deal at all. On a regular basis I change from backhoe to post hole auger to pull type brush mower.
I recall the Kubota mechanic telling me the sub-frame kit adds about 400 pounds. So, you get some extra traction weight even when the backhoe is removed.

I know the BH90 would be a good choice --- I do not have experience with a 3PH backhoe.

thanks...I'm actually looking at the Woods BH90-X because it will only work with my cab tractor plus I like the curved boom. The sub-frame shipping weight is about 400 lbs according to the specs. I could probably drain out some of the tire fluid as I don't really need another 400 lbs + the weight of the backhoe itself + tire ballast. Anyone have a bad experience with the Woods BH90-X ?

We have mounted several for people and to date(about three years) we have not had any come back with chassis issues. They are mounted further to the rear then the Kubota's 90 that is how they can be on with a cab.

I did find that they are very frustrating to dig trenches with because of moving the tractor but to do one site digs the customers were fine.
