Bump up lift capacity of L3400/LA463 Loader

Picked up and moved tree stump I had cut while back. Left it to rot some came today with L3400DT fel w/toothbar. Scooped up and back and chained in case it flipped forward. With extra spec legal bump up my L3400DT (gear) thinks its the mouse that roared. Been real happy with my Bota, this one didn't come with "painters option". Thats where you tie your paint cans that need shaking onto 3 point lift arms to shake paint cans before use. Saves trips to local hardware/HD/Lowes etc. :)

Hi All,

Just stumbled onto this thread and ordered the gauge, QD and bushing from McMaster Carr. Plan to check my L3800 and hope to be able to boost the lifting capability a little. I also have a JD 2305 and was a little disappointed the 3800 couldn't lift more than it can - granted, it's more than the 2305 but still... ;)

Regards,

Mark

I have a l3400 and i drained the hydraulic oil and pulled the pressure relief valve out and put it back in and now have no loader or 3 point but do have power steering if i lost the shims would this be the result Please help

Might want to start a new thread on this, but IF you had a shim from the factory, I wouldnt think loosing it would cause a loss of loader movement. It would lower the pressure and lift capacity, but since OEM has it set to ~2300PSI, and it only takes a mere 500psi to lift an empty loader, a shim or two out shouldnt cause this issue.

BUT....if you lost the spring or plunger out of there, would most certainly cause the issue.

Power steering is coming from a different pump.

Power steering is coming from a different pump.

Ya steering is a different circuit than implements, other than sharing the same tank.

Did you clean any screens that might be in the hyd flow path?

You might have to prime the pump.

You need a hyd gage to check and set the relief setting.

Got directed here from another thread.

I want to check and, if required, bump up the pressure for my L4330, which according to the WSM, the system pressure should be: 2,633 to 2,775 (Specification, page 11, Hydraulic System/System Pressure).

Looking up the parts at McMaster, I get right around $50 for a liquid filled pressure gauge plus the connectors, plus I would need to add shipping.

So, for a one time use part (right?), I was wondering if anyone here would be willing to loan their pressure gauge with shipping paid both ways? Or is it worth it to get because I'll end up using it again - anyone know?

2nd question: Where does this gauge get hooked up? At the base of the FEL control level with the four pressure hoses that go into/out of?

3rd: Some people are saying you need to add a shim/washer, some are saying they just tightened the relief valve, no shims needed. Which is it? Or are we talking different models and I missed it?

Thanks, I really want to check and bump up my pressure if needed but also don't want to mess it up either!

Thanks,
