Default BX2200 What size Snowblower?

I am having a hard time deciding on a Snowblower for my new Bx2200. Rear mount PTO blower for BX2200 should be a maximum lenght of what? I have a choice between two used Canadian snowblowers. The first one is 1200$ for a 60 inch dual-stage blower with allot of rust. The next is a fairly new, frshly painted 72 inch snowblower for 1500$.. What to do What to do.... Is 72 inch way too big? will my 540rpm PTO be able to keep up?

Thanx

You can pretty much get any width that you want. It should be at least as wide as you tractor. Obviously you don't want so wide for your tractor, that it is not manuverable. I don't think a 72" would fit into that category

Some people will say that there is a limit, I am sure. My position is that if you working with wet, heavy snow, you take a small cut thus effectively reducing the size of your blower. If you are dealing with a little light snow take a fuller cut.

The 51" on my BX2230 will almost life the front end off of the ground. I can only imagine a 60 will and the 72 would be too large.

Remember the lifting point of the unit will be back behind the lifting arms of the blower. I would not go 72" because the weight might be too much in the long term.

Does your BX2200 have a FEL? If not, you may be forced to go with a 48" unit. The more important consideration may be weight distribution rather than power. These days, 540RPM is the standard speed for rear blowers.

For sure the blower should be 6"-12" wider than the wheels otherwise you will be compacting snow with your wheels.
I operate 60" with a 4ft track on a 20ish HP PTO.
Small snow fall= full pass. Deepish (8-12")=1/2 pass.
Very deep, like 16-20"= raise blower 4" and double pass followed by half wide passes.

Also if blower is exact same as wheel width you can't turn while blowing as your outer front wheel will be in unblown snow.

Re FEL, you simply raise it higher than the snow otherwise you won't turn as the bucket sides will stear you straight due to side pressure.

I have a 60" rear blower on my 2350 and I definitely wouldn't want to go any larger. First off, I'm pushing the limits for PTO HP and secondly the 60" is probably a little large for the tractor frame. However, my driveway has some some steep banks in places and it's nice to have the blower overhang some so I don't have to drive so close to the edge.
