Bx2230
It seems there are some differences between models when increasing hydraulic relief valve pressure. Here is the information from the BX 1830 / BX 2230 Workshop manual for increasing hydraulic pressure. I used my pictures because the WSM pictures are not very clear.

Factory spec. for hydraulic relief valve activation is from 1778-1849 psi

Shims are available in three thicknesses: .1mm (.0039 inch)
.2mm (.0079 inch)
.4mm (.0157 inch)
pressure is increased approx. 39psi whenever the thickness of the adjusting shim is increased by .1mm.
I added two .2mm shims, and re-torqued the relief valve plug to the factory spec of 28-45ft-lbs.

Same specs in BX24 WSM...

The pictures are very simular to what my BX23 looks like too. Specs are the same as well. I set mine up to the 1850 PSI figure from a pre-adjustment measurement of 1620 PSI. In the process, I added about 0.4 mm the shim stack.

Attached is a picture of the simple fixture used to check the pressure. The pressure difference was noticable.

Update on hydraulic pressure adjustment: I have used my Bx2230 for a while now since adding two .2 mm shims to the hydraulic relief valve. Loader does a better job lifting out of a pile of dirt. That was my only complaint with the factory setting- the loader was a little slow coming out of a material pile. Now the loader operates as it should. The loader will raise the front of the tractor easily. Before the adjustment, I had to drive the tractor forward while lowering the bucket in order to lift the tractors front wheels.
Mower, rear implements, and speed control pedal all work normally.
Best of luck!

I'm getting ready to do my 400 hr service (actually a little overdue) and was planning on tuning up relief valve as part of the service. My question is---does this adjustment affect only the loader and other external hydraulics or will it also effect the HST?

I didn't notice any difference in the HST operation, after raising my releif pressure. The HST is driven by it's own pump. The increased pressure affects the loader, three point hitch and backhoe, or other loop hydraulics, if installed.
I only increased mine by a couple of hundred pounds, but the difference was noticable.

how can I increase hydraulic pressure on a bx23 Kubota tractor

Do you know that it actually needs adjusting.

If it is the first or only relief valve on the tractor, there is an adjusting nut close by the IN port on a loader valve and if at the rear for the 3pt, then you either turn the nut in or add shims to increase the pressure.

You do need a hgage to do it right.

About $30 to make a test set.

Where is the best place to test for proper pressure? Can I use quick connect for BH under seat? I have a 04 BX23

Thanks Anthony

just use the qa for the loader. Its downstream of a control valve
