Can you image a design/quality team saying, 妬tç—´ good enough, letç—´ send it off to production! This level of quality leaves me wondering what else was å*µood enough. Would you tolerate this level abrupt stopping in your passenger car? And passenger cars have æ–—emon laws that unfortunately do not apply to tractors (I checked). The Kubota transmission design team should be rounded up sent to their nearest competitor.

Check out the video: YouTube - Kubota tractor abrupt reverse stopping BX1850

For all you owners, I think it痴 too late. The resale value has fallen as the market is flooded with people dumping them. I also hear Kubota is quietly buying some back. They seem to have stopped that. I知 sure they see what痴 happening to the market. I would dump mine too, but I壇 loose too much money.

Now my wife won稚 use the tractor and I知 not confidant in the safety to allow my 14 year old son to use it. I bought it so other could mow, now I知 screwed.

The John Deere was a little more money, but in hindsight, I should have stepped up!

So how do you leverage kubota to do something about it. I agree it's pretty sorry for Kubota Corp. to leave us with this operating/safety problem.

At this point I haven't been contacted by a lawyer doing some kind of class action lawsuit. Nor has the Consumer Product Safety commission initiated action on the matter. At least I'm not aware of either taken place.

I picked Kubota over JD because of the fold able ROPS and nothing more. Got a good quote from JD. The price difference wasn't that significant at least not to me.

just watched the video not sure if i'm buying that kubota has a real issue here, short of not enough weight in the nose. i was just out mowing with the cub cadet and i'll try it again but i bet if i had a couple hundred pounds hangin on the back of a lawn mower it would also lift the wheels. i have a poulan pro belt driven also that if you let the clutch out it will wheelie is that a problem i dont think so.

re- previous post.

i am barely computer literate (i'm able to find my way to this websight and truth be told, i've owned quite a bit of outdoor power equipment, all powerful and pricey to ghastly pricey (my kubotas). my wife has wondered about my addiction . . . i also wonder about my ability on some aspects of their operation.
that said, i was one of the many that tied up a great deal of money on a bx1850 w/fel, weight box and 2763a hd blade. i too thought the tranny was a real problem, an unacceptable problem.
i informed my dealer and started the ball rolling on a trade in. i received numbers from my fellow tractor by net contributors. . . the trade up or swap was a regional thing . . . what it was going to cost one to get away from the 50 series transmission. i remember, one fellow did it for about a grand!?! the number qouted me by me dealer was higher, by alot, so i pondered it for a long time. in the end, i was able to get a land pride qh-15 series hitch included. that softened the sting

good luck shrekbelly

Consider how dangerous the guy would be if he owned a gear drive tractor. Too bad no one taught him to modulate his foot. If the hydro controls were severely dampened, the tractor would not stop fast enough, which surely would NOT be corrected as easily as slapping this clown upside the head and telling him to drive his tractor properly.

I also on a 50 series tractor, a BX2350. I just don't think its that big of deal. I admit that it will stop pretty quickly sometimes, but I almost have to try to do it. I test drove mine around the dealer lot before I bought mine and I did notice it. I tried it a couple times and found if I was a little more carefull, it wouldn't do it. It also won't do it in low range, which is where I do most of my mowing. I remember an old gear drive riding mower I had years ago with a rear engine. If you side stepped the clutch, it would also do a heck of a wheelie.

I would suggest reading up on tractor safety simply because you sound as if it would better serve you and your wife to do so before you become another statisic.
One look at the video shows more than we need to know about folks that should not be on motorized equipment, let alone something with a PTO device. The indivdual is backing down a slope, improperly weighted front end, sandels and shorts. I have included some links you can read in your leasure.

i agree there should be some common sence test . if it would not stop when you took your foot off quickly and run over or into someone. then kubota would be at fault. i want mine to stop as quickly as i lift my footor as slowly as i lift my foot. i guess if i would quickly hit the brakes and the tires slid it would by kubota also. how about the guy leaving his 5 foot mmm on and plowing snow with a 4 foot blade. bent the discharge chute. poor kubota can't do anything right .this is not only tractors but most things that people buy. that is why there is so many warning labels. Warning do not put hands into mower when blades are turning.

Bought 8th Kubota in five years a couple of months ago. 7th Kubota was/is a BX2350. It is my 3rd BX. I agree that the rear stop is "quick" and is different than all of the other ones except for my Kubota number 4 which was a gas mower around $3800 that I can't remember what Kubota model it was, it operated in the same manner. I do most of my 3 acres of hillside, gullied, rocky and treed mowing with the BX2350. I can ease off the pedal and it's OK but I ocassionally forget and let off quickly like on the other Kubotas and get reminded not to do it that way with the BX2350. If I didn't have the other Kubotas and had never owned any other Kubota and didn't read this forum I probably wouldn't ever let off quickly and would be OK. Most people don't complain about it until they read about it on the forums because most people have never owned another Kubota to know that most other models don't respond this way. I agree that it doesn't operate or stop like the other B's, BX's, F and L that I own or have owned but I'm not about to say it's a piece of crap. It's not like the other Kubotas but with a lighter foot I accept it and doesn't bother me to bad. I do agree that it's a manufacturing defect though and Kubota seems to agree since they changed it in the 60 series. If I got a company initiated better trade in toward another BX, I'd probably take it and trade because I like trading, not necessarily because I hate the tractor. Some remember the push button transmissions on cars, they gave it a try for a few years and then stopped doing it. Companies try different things all the time. Some times it's a hit and sometimes it bombs but you don't get a new product all the time but sometimes you do or a voucher to apply on your next purchase. Kubota: send me a big voucher to appy to my next purchase!!!:)
