How hard is it to remove the cowling assembly with the insturment panel on a B2910? (I assume it would be the same for the B2710 and B2410 too) I know there is one screw at the top but I don't want to start prying away after that. I want to cut a hole and mount a switch next to the hazard button.

How hard is it to remove the cowling assembly with the insturment panel on a B2910? I guess that's a relative matter. I felt the same way about starting to pry on things, but I had the dealer install a cigarette lighter where you're talking about mounting a switch, then like a dummy I let water get in it while I was washing the tractor, and had to replace it. You can probably see where the two tabs are above the instrument panel to carefully pry them loose, and there are tabs down the sides of the cowling, so after you remove that screw on top you can raise the rest of the cowling to release it. I had to punch out the roll pin and remove the throttle lever to raise the cowling enough to get my hands in there. Since I didn't know what I was doing when I started, I probably fooled around a couple of hours getting it apart, replacing the cigarette lighter, and putting it back together. Like most jobs, not bad if you know what you're doing, but not fun when you don't. I always worry about breaking things that have to be pried apart, but I even did that without leaving any visible damage.

Bird, That should have been enough to get you to stop smoking or did you use it for your cell phone? We got .05 inches rain last week. Another 200 nights like that should help the drought!

Wen, No, it didn't make me quit smoking. And wish I'd gotten even as much rain as you did. Three times last week, we got just a few drops on the car windshield; not big enough drops to run down the window and not enough to find any in the rain gauge.
