Test the tractor out before you buy it. period. There are a couple of versions (L2800/3400) out there, you have to test it out to see if it's acceptable to you. Besides, the jerkiness (for me) was a problem since I needed fine adjustments to build roads or lift heavy objects with a boom pole. That might not effect you... but it did me.

BTW, I bet you, EVERY dealer knows about the jerky pto and cable... but are told NOT to say anything or admit anything. period. Two dealer I went to said the same thing "didn't know or haven't heard"... but after getting to know the mechanic's in the shop out back... they both had replaced a couple of valves to the newer less jerky valves under warranty. One said it was the week before... surprise, big business lies.

The L3400 that you are thinking of buying... do you know what version it is? Does it have the "extra power" sticker one it?
