BX25 HST Fan Replacement

So you had to pay $250 for the repair with the Kubota insurance?

Yes...overall repair would have cost almost $600 (according to the dealer because of the amount of time it took-as stated, the fan was only $11). And he was on the lower end of the 3 dealers I called.

Sad to say this comes up all too often. There are old threads on here about replacement. Some simply split the collar on the fan and glue it back together over the shaft and put a nut on it. Good luck and get a set of Bro Tek or the upgraded HST fan protector.

I thought the upgraded HST fan protector came standard on the BX25..

Well.. job is done. About as much fun as root canal.. actually I've never had a root canal so I'm guessing.

I ended up lifting the engine. It really is quite easy. Although on the BX25 the rad shroud is NOT attached to the engine and it needs to be loosened as well (4 bolts). All in all a PITA job for a $10 part, but alls well that ends well.

BTW, I don't think I'd have had to pull the ROPS, floor pan and rear fenders if I admitted defeat from the get-go and recognized that I'd have to move the engine.

Thanks for the pictures. I have a BX25 so I now have pictures to study if I need to see one stripped. Saved them in my pictures under BX25 stripped.

I thought the upgraded HST fan protector came standard on the BX25..

The upgraded fan protection from Kubota, such as it is, was a mid-course correction and not all current model machines came with it, especially those assembled a year ago, or more.

Bro Tek front & back plates - order them tomorrow - I did a week after receiving my BX after reading many posts regarding .

Share your pain, though I had to dismantle & reasemble after a hack factory tech replaced my HST input seal and couldn't figure how to put Humty back together again.

They are the best pictures of the fan removed I have seen.

I would like to ask a question. The bolt that holds the shaft to the splines , how do you get to that bolt? It seems the fan shrouds it and is tight up against the HST cooling fins.

When you lifted that engine, was the radiator and fan a problem? Or is it all one assembly? How long did it take to get the floor off?
