What tractor are you putting them on?

Why are you compairing the two. They weren't/aren't used on the same tractors.

The 402 was used on the older B7800's.

There is a 403 which is used on the 2630 and 3030

And the 504 is used on the 3200 and 3300.

But they are all basically the same loader with very similar capacities. All within a few lbs of each other.

it is on a B7800 05 model with 402 FEL. I am considering a purchase of a B3300SU (whole other subject) which is a 504 loader pin QA so I am wondering if the buckets will switch out as I recently put a 1/4" 2 by 2 angle iron with 3 weld on hooks on a new 60" bucket, pricey. Someone had posted that the 504 had a design flaw in relation to the closeness of the pins? Apologize for being vague on this "flaw" but I cannot find the thread again. :confused2:

I did not say it was a flaw, only noted that the pin spacing was closer together. The loader arms are closer together also so your bucket will not fit.

could a good welder retro fit it?

Not only are the brackets that hold the pins spaced closer together on the 504 bucket but the pin holes in each bracket might be configured differently too. Don't know that for sure. There is a kind of triangular brace that runs across the back between the two brackets on the 504 bucket also. Might be a fair amount of work to reconfigure your bucket and require the fabrication of new brackets if you can't get them from the factory.
