We are having problems with our L3400, the power steering has started to get jerky ( power seems to drop in and out). I think I have identified the cause, the picture below shows a ruptured hose I found. Can someone identify the part number? It looks pretty simple just to replace the hose is that the case? How do I check the fluid level as I am guessing some may have leaked out.

Thanks

Chris

If it helps, that is the main hydraulic suction line for the tractor. It is a common problem on the 3400's. But I cant say for sure, but I thought that pump only ran the 3PH and loader. The powersteering I think is on a different circuit.

Cut either way, that line needs replaced. I dont have the part # but if you call any kubota dealer and tell them the "hydraulic suction line" and they should know. Like I said, it is very common.

As to the level, there is a sight glass. Down by your foot if you were sitting on the tractor. I believe your left foot, but I could be wrong. It is about 1" round with a clear window. The oil level sould be about halfway on that guage. If not, you need to add some.

Good post to read about it is here, it has the part number...

Sight glass is by your left heel, "drive's side", very close to the floor board. Might as well buy one of those because the early models will crack and leak..

Thanks for the replies.

Should I also order the clips or can they be reused? Do I have to drain the hydraulic fluid to change the hose?

Thanks,

Chris

While I haven't changed mine yet, the consensus is that the clips are not very good to begin with, and you would be better served to get some good stainless steel worm drive clamps at the auto parts store or somewhere else. And most report losing very little fluid in changing the hose. Again this is not the voice of experience, but what I have heard from others.

I did mine a couple years ago... it was pretty darn quick and easy I don't remember that much about doing it... :p I'm thinking the bag had new clips with the new hose... but I'm not 100% sure about that.
