Well it's a done deal, Bx is back up and running. It was an easy fix and anyone can do it. The best part is that no fancy tools are required, although I used a lathe to remove the center section a hot knife would do the job as well and any sharp chisel could be used to remove the leftover fan bits from the original hub using the tractor as a lathe. But the best part is that I didn't have to pull half of the tractor apart to do this fix. Cost new fan $21.50 one unit JB weld $6.50.

So for any of you who trash your fan this is how to geter done fast.

David

Yes it's just a tad bigger and slightly out of round but as that great American general George Armstrong Custer once said "Who gives a sh$t".

As I have never seen the underside of a Bx 24 how is it different?

Since you have a BX2350, the BX24's underside isn't any different than your tractor. Both are a 50 series tractor. Just a guess, he may have thought that you did your fix on a BX2230 or BX2200 which is easier to replace the fan from what I have read.

Just an update on the update, JB Weld don't stick to this plastic, like not even a little bit does it stick. I had let it sit over night to let it cure but as soon as I revved up the tractor the fan just blew right off, no damage though. So what I did was glue a couple of the old fan blades together using different types of glue yuh know to find out which worked the best. The best that I have found is Dow Corning clear silicone, I have not been able to rip apart the blades glued together with this stuff.

I may have missed the original thread but it looks like I'd need to finish removing the fins off the existing fan and smooth the ring until no bumps are left. Then take a new fan, cut out the middle and enough of the ring to slide it over the HST shaft. I guess the self tapping screws are to secure it to the old ring.Do you think ruffing the old surface would make a difference and make JB weld work a little better? You'd need really short screws.
