Low Hst fluid on delivery
I just traded my BX 25 in on a 2620. The next morning after delivery, after a few minutes I noticed a jerkniess in the steering wheel. Decided I had better check the fluids (Should have done on delivery) and found that the Hst fluid was no where near the dipstick. Called dealer and was told that when they installed the FEL, they forgot to add fluid to compensate for the extra hyd cylinders. Was told to come by and pick up a gallon of Sudt-2.-- Transmission turned out to be 3 quarts low. I don't think its likely, but could there be any damage done from running the Hst that low (moving parts not bathed in oil) for such a short period of time? Was less than an hour on the clock when I discovered it. (Lesson learned!) Check everything when taking delivery on a new machine. Also discovered tire not properly inflated and the MMM way out of adjustment.

Re: Low Hst fluid on delivery
Not an uncommon occurrence. My BX2660 was delivered with the front axle 2 quarts low!
The lesson I learned; do not trust the dealer, double check everything.

Re: Low Hst fluid on delivery
I would guess you should be ok.
I bought a used Montana and also did not check fluids before I used it a full day moving logs with the grapple. I ended up draining only 2 gals and it's supposed to be 6 gals. Knowing the previous owner I'm sure it was ran for a long time that way. I did get about half of a teaspoon of shavings out but it has given me no issues. They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.

Re: Low Hst fluid on delivery
i see 2 probs in this post.1.is the dealer forgetting to have stuff they sale field ready.2.buyers not making it clear to the dealers that the equipment better be field ready.the dealer i deal with makes it a point to tell me everything is field ready, because they know ill chew on them pretty good if theres a prob.

Re: Low Hst fluid on delivery
Sorry about that. Fact is this. Plain and simple, trust but verify.
When the new tractor arrives, you've got to check those fluid levels. There just have been too many cases reported here recently of slipshod prep work being done at the dealerships. It seems it isn't their highest paid mechanic doing these preps.
BTW, check the front axle, radiator and everything else, today and again at the 8 hour mark. It isn't uncommon for fluids to "fill in the air pockets" and register a bit low all around.
Good of the dealer to provide that jug of fluid. I'm increasingly of the opinion that a gallon of SUDT-2 ought to come come with every Kubota delivered, quite honestly, as sure as the world, something will be low in a few days.BP
