Hey Folks,

So I ran my l4400 for a few hours today on a job and all was well but when I got home and pulled it off the trailer my power steering went out. It took about 5 revs of the engine and it worked again properly. What would cause this?

Thanks,
Chris

I'll take a guess, but it's only a guess. When you pulled it off the trailer, what kind of angle was it? Enough that power steering was temporarily deprived of hydraulic fluid? Find a hill about that same angle and see if you don't lose power steering there, also. Or get the tractor partially on and partially off the trailer and see if it doesn't happen again. But I wouldn't want to keep it in that position long.

To clarify it wasn't when pulling off it was when it was flat on the trailer

Had anyone been turning the steering wheel with the engine off... Steering hooks up to a pump and it shouldn't... but Could have pushed the oil out of the system....I am not sure about the L4400 but the Grand L series has 2 hydraulic pumps, one for the hydraulic system and the other for steering & the shifting on GST tractors...

Anything else not working right? KennyV
