I just purchased a kubota mx 4700. I was wondering what is the best rpm to brush hog.

Welcome to TBN.

Usually, it is marked on your tach, no? Look in the 1800-2200 area. Operator's manual also give this information as well.

Welcome aboard.

I mow at the rated 540 RPM in the manual which is 3000 or so on the BX, 2660 on the 5030 and 2250 on the 8540.

I generally mow around 2200 rpm, even though 2700 is the rated rpm for the 540 pto rpm. It depends on what you are cutting, how good the hog is cutting and your ground speed. Right or wrong, that's how I do it. If your tractor has very few hours on it, you should vary your rpm's...according to the owner's manual anyhow. Some people do it that way, some don't.

From what I can find in the 1800 owners manual, wide open is 540 rpm on the rear.
