After seeing what you get done with the L5740, I am curious about it. I can't seem to find fuel usage ratings under full PTO load for it.
If I am out with the square baler for 8 hrs, figure 2 hrs of road time total, 6 hrs baling. I average 100 bales an hr. By the end of the day I have used around 1/2 tank of fuel. So not too bad. I have brush hogged for 12 hrs straight before needing to re-fuel. 14.3 gal capacity. Hope this helps.

I think mine holds 40 L so about 14 gal, if I'm running with the engine pegged continuously snowblowing etc, I can't get 5 hours from a tank. If I'm tedding or raking or baling, I get 10-15 hour + from a tank.

When you look up the engine curve from Kubota's engine site you will find the L5740 engine uses 3.7 gph at 100% power. The brake specific fuel consumption curve actually sweeps up pretty fast at the high end so as you back off the fuel economy gets better quickly. Pretty much matches what was said about fuel usage snow blowing vs. raking or tedding. I go through 2 tanks a day plowing or dissing and go days between filling gathering up bales.
    L5740 w/FEL, 301.8 MiniHEX, RTV900, 13' tandem disk, 1 x 2 btm plow, 12' 3pt cultivator, bale spear, 7' rear blade, grading scraper, 6' KK tiller, pallet forks

What size plow and disc are you running?

I was thinking about this earlier and one thing that is bogging down is fluid in the tires if you have it. I have close to 55 gal. in my 4240.

Going up hills the fluid in the tires sure does bog the tractor down. Makes for a fun ride downhill too.

You guys are right. I kinda forgot about that. Yeah I have 55 gal. in each tire as well @ 1298 lbs. Also, I don't keep my tires inflated very much for a better ride. Both of these will add rolling resistance robbing power on the road. Sooo, maybe I'm not asking too much, but expecting too much.
I was roading the JD6300 with just a 10 wheel rake the other day and it was dropping 2-3 mph on the hills. So maybe my little L is doin pretty good given what I'm asking it to do.
