Float (Detent) Not Working on L3130 Front Loader. Any Ideas??

I am doing the 500 hour mainenance on a friends tractor. The float does not work on the front loader. It is part of the operation of the front loader, because when I borrowed it a couple years ago, I learned about it then. Now, it is Not working. Will not go "into" the detent.
I saw a post on here a while back...danged if I can find it now. I have tried to adjust the cables coming from the joystick, still no detent.
Any ideas? Or does anyone know the post I saw a while ago? Searched for "float" and for "detent".

The biggest problem with those is normally on the valve not to say it might not be the cable but normally it is in the valve actions. Remove the cup below the raise lower spool and be careful not to loose any parts as some might have fallen out but there will be three balls riding on that spool that are supposed to be holding it in place when in float. Pack it with grease when reinstalling to reduce moisture build-up.

I had this issue with my 2710, and JJ helped me out. You will need to take off the lower part of the main shaft on the control lever. There is a spring and a set of small ball bearings in there that will probably need to be replaced. I ended up taking off the whole hydraulic control valve as this piece is on the bottom of the valve and it will be difficult to put in upside down. Not very hard but it was about $165 for the replacement unit. when you put it back together pack it with grease.

Thanks, now I know what I need to do to mine if lenghing the throw doesn't work. The float works fine but pops out sometimes.

Not sure what your float detent looks like, but on my Kubota two spring loaded ball bearings ride over a spool that threads into the main valve. The spool had groves worn into it. I bought a new spool (expensive), but later realized that if I'd just added a thin washer under the spool it would have rotated it enough so the balls engaged a fresh surface. There is enough slop in the system that the washer thickness wouldn't have changed anything.

Remove and clean the groove on the detent assembly and replace the balls if rusty.

You might be able to rotate the spool 189 degree, allowing a new surface for the detent balls to drop into.

See if you can put the spool in detent without the cables attached.

When you tighten the caps back on the detent assembly, make sure the weep/water hole is able to drain.

When it happened on mine took cap off sprayed with lubricant and drilled hole in bottom of cap, no problem since then.

That was the problem area on my L4330. Bought a new assembly but found out when I took the old one apart that water had gotten in there and it could probably have been fixed without buying new parts.
